Ok dude, fuck the people that treat you like an idiot, back to it...
Start over if you use oats, soak for about 12hrs then boil for 30 min at a rolling boil, then dry them for 30 mins then set em up to PC, for 2 hrs. This is a bit.longer seems how you keep having trouble with contaminations. Take longer steps, no short cuts, dont do anything you think might be better. First you have to crawl before you can walk, then run. I know you did research for some time, unfortunately it looks like shit went wrong. Read more go slower, and follow the steps with no short cuts. After you get a couple decent grows under your belt, then you can experiment. I follow everything I read, it works for me, i dont improvise. Dont try to be the best just yet. You still have a while to go brotha....

Yeah, you don't know this yet, but he's been told all of this already.

This is not his first post like this.

It's ok, I didnt do the first thing I was taught  when learning something new, it's called being ignorant, not knowing what you dont know.
If OP learns the hard way, teach him the hard way, if you dont have patience, piss off let someone else give it a shot...

Not my first post like this? What other post is like what? What are you talking about? Why/How am I a puppet?

I was not even being ignorant. When you joined the thread, I had already accepted that it was mold and had thrown it away. Then you joined the chat all angry, I don't know why.

What ever man it's cool. Dont get upset because of an observation, you're not a master cultivator, neither am I. I am ignorant on a ton of shit as well, dont take it personal.

Other than that, check this out for contams if you are having trouble.

Short fuse? The dude was saying a jar full of brown mold was "probably fine"... when constructive criticism doesn't work, it's time for tough love

Seriously, AND he opened it and took a bif whiff. Said he senses that it's fine. That's a BIG FUCKIN NO NO. Never sniff molds! Chances are you have a good immune system, and that mold is probably harmless. Purple, black and green molds are the ones that are generally mycotoxin filled. Still though, never do that again. There's many molds that are harmful and sniffing a concentrated amount of them could send you to the hospital. I've seen a few cases throughout my years of people getting pneumonia, and even heard of molds germinating in HIV positive people's lungs. Contamination is a serious concern in this hobby, and needs to be treated with respect.

Yeah I've seen the mold OP posted a lot actually, so yeah it's not like this is the first of its kind. OP let this be a learning lesson. If you see a huge ring of metabolites, it's 2 clashing molds. Like what you see in the contam link sent.

Kizzle said:
Sectoring - When two different fungal species are growing in the same substrate they tend to form distinct borders between the two mycelia. Often a line of metabolites may be seen where the two fungi meet. Hourglass shaped mold sectors in PF jars are almost always the result of a compromised dry vermiculite layer whereas circular mold colonies are usually the result of a mold growing from one of the inoculation points.

When the contaminant is bacterial the contaminated area appears uncolonized and are often rectangular shaped. When the mycelium encounters the infected area the edge loses it's thread-like appearance and metabolites are often present.

Cool, yes that's the kind of thing I got. I probably did mix spore syringes but I thought it would be fine. I have done it with BRF-cakes before.
But should this kind of contamination be thrown out then? can it not fruit still?

All contamination should be thrown out dude. Wtf are u talking about?

Re: What to do with these grain spawns [Re: nube424]
    #25858390 -

No it wont fruit, it will basically turn into poison, for you and anyone around you. At any moment you see a glimmer of any contamination, throw it out, it WILL only get worse, there is no "saving" it.
It's best to start over as soon as possible than to wait a month and then start over. Dont prolong the inevitable.
An explanation is always better than arrogance.

I wouldn't have to be arrogant if op did some research and had common sense. Would u try to "save" a loaf of moldy bread?

If I didnt know what it was yes. I was just as curious as OP when I first started out. Didnt even know penicillin came from bread. Just because you know doesnt mean anyone else does. Always suspect someone doesnt know what the hell is going on.
Also throughout my years I've learned the new generation even some old, dont have common sense. Sometimes people need a push in the right direction, if they get it wrong, they dont need you to tell them they're lazy, help them out. That's what we need more than ever, it's not about you, or me, or OP, it's about getting it done right, even if it's wrong 100 times.

If that's the case, dont reply, wait for someone else to. Some people you have to tell 20 times before they get it, maybe OP is used to being led a certain way. There is never "your way", only "a way".
