Useing popcorn as grain spawn.

Awhile back I was doing a little reading on the subject of grain spawns, and read about some grower in the netherlands useing popcorn for grain spawn. This intrests a friend, and he wants to know if there are any more resorces on this subject.

I haven't found much info either, but this is what I would do:
Take popcorn kernels (unpopped), soak for 24 hours. Simmer until soft but not exploded. Pack into quart jars (2/3 full), pressure cook at 15psi for 1-1.5 hours. Allow to cool, inoculate.
So pretty much the same as birdseed or rye, but I think they would need a lot more soaking. I wouldn't attempt this without a pressure cooker.
