If people would get an education or learn a valuable trade they wouldn’t have to worry about uneducated and unskilled immigrants competing for their shitty assembly line job.

I say full military lock down but that would get a lot of attention.  It would show who enemies of America are and in need of re-education.

I'm trying to educate myself but I like to talk about the past a lot.  It's hard to learn new things with the fear of death.

Multiculturalism is a proven failure.

Have either of you proven it?  Can you explain why the most successful cities in America are usually the most diverse?

Of course they can’t.  Its just more racist propaganda, typical of unsuccessful losers crying about their lot in life and trying to find someone to blame besides themselves. :cryforme:

That's cute that you thought I was asking you to explain the concept to me.

No example then?

I am not explaining this anymore. You don't have to believe it, you can believe whatever you want. Holding all things the same, supply goes up, demand goes down, and with it wages. Granted there are other variables to consider, if supply and demand both go up then wages may stay the same or even increase depending on the increase in demand.

Microsoft for example keeps trying to get the number of work visas raised because they "claim" there aren't enough high skilled workers to fill the position, that's debatable.

Still, the law of supply and demand has been around for a long time and isn't going anywhere. It provides sufficient nuance to empathize with the concerns of those who may feel that a sudden and dramatic increase in the supply of labor may not be in their best interest.

The law of supply and demand only applies to perfect market conditions where everyone is free to enter and leave the market voluntarily. In the real world, this kind of market does not exist.

There's a lot of variables to consider. We touched on this a little bit discussing white privilege. As before I would start with defining it. For example, I would start with something like "what would a strength of diversity look like?"

There are a number of areas most of us would agree upon as a benefit. For this example we could start with something like "social cohesion". I assume most people would want to live in a more welcoming, inclusive, and friendly environment where they feel safe and trusting.

That could bring us to a more specific question like "how would diversity affect social cohesion?" It turns out there is already some data on that particular aspect of diversity. You can take a look at it yourself.

https://politicalscience.ku.dk/staff/academic_staff/?pure=en/persons/309060

Now as I said in the white privilege discussion, no single study is definitive, but each piece of evidence we get provides some amount of insight.

Well Europe has had a dramatic uptick in violence and terrorism sinse the "mixing of European and African/middle eastern cultures". The migrant crisis is a good example of the conflicts that can arise. Maybe in a few decades they will assimilate but atm its been a rough ride

Correlation isn't causation, just because certain industries decide to reside in certain cites and that attracts all types of people because those industries foster economic prosperity for many people that live in the area, it does NOT mean the diversity is the reason for the prosperity.

Yes, affluent areas attract all sorts of people, those areas do well despite the diversity in most cases.

The major leaders of the EU acknowledge many years ago that multiculturalism is a proven failure, most there don't disagree with that assessment.

Most legal immigrants have education and skills, those immigrants do hurt the native workers without a doubt. You do realize corporate America is a big advocate of even more legal immigration?

Instead of making insults at people you disagree with, why don't you at least acknowledge that different cultures do come into conflict with each other.

Cultural diversity has always been a problem in the US and that even goes for Europeans from different nations.  Ask the Irish how fun it was.

So now it’s legal immigration? Your whole argument up til now has been about illegal immigrants.  What do you do for a living, qman?  Seems you’re very concerned that your job might be taken by someone else.  If that’s the case, it really doesn’t matter that individual is an immigrant, legal or not, or just another born and bred US citizen.  Maybe you need to learn new skills that are more valuable than your current set or get a better education in a field that is lucrative or at the very least able to set you apart from the rest.

So you have a lot of friends that aren’t white?  I’m betting not.  The fact that you think people of different ethnicity, cultural background or religion can’t get along speaks to your personal outlook of the world.  All you have to offer in these discussions is placing blame on immigrants.

You're wrong, I've been against BOTH legal and illegal immigration. Yes, everyone is focused on the illegal immigration, but legal immigration also benefits US companies at the expense of the US worker.

You do realize Trump supporters are too stupid to recognize that their hero has called for an increase in legal immigration?  And that legal immigration is much more harmful to them in the labor market?

I actually care about the younger generation that have piles of debt and wages that aren't enough to make up the difference.

I graduated from college over 25 years ago with zero debt, so saving and investing wasn't a challenge for someone like myself. I don't think most younger people can say that today.

Fanaticism in any form, whether religious, nationalist, racial, etc...is going to cause problems.  I think that is the biggest issue.  People so blinded by their own fanatical ideology and fear are the true root of the conflicts we face.  People are people, doesn’t matter where they’re coming from or where they’re going.  If this all boils down to one’s own economic comfort level, then they need to better themselves through skills, education and innovation in order to maintain or improve it.  Everyone in the US and I would wager in Canada have the freedom to do just that...blaming others is just weak.  There are 7B people on this planet and growing everyday.  If you can’t adapt, you will be left behind and likely perish.  It’s the natural order of the universe.

I stand by that statement, my concern is my fellow US citizens, not foreigners. Can you say the same?  No, that's why it "makes it hard to take anything you say seriously".

I did vote for Trump and I'll be the first person to tell you he has been a massive failure on so many different levels. It's called being intellectually honest, give it a try some day. It's actually very healthy and refreshing.
