border crossing
    #1614382 - 06/06/03 12:36 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

me and my wife are planning on moving to canada(B.C.) real soon(within a month)

has anyone crossed the border from the U.S. lately?

it does not matter where we cross,we can take canadian highway 1 all the way across canada to B.C.

is it hard to get across the border?

will the run my I.D. for warrants etc.?

we are going to claim refugee status in canada

i go over aboot once a week and there is no problem whatsoever. All they do is either ask you where you're going, where you came from and how long of a stay will you have. You may be a little different since you're moving over there. They'll probably just ask you for your ID. The borders are nothing like they make it on TV.

If you are going to B.C. I think the Coutts border crossing may be your best bet.

Never been through the Canada crossing, but, through the Mexico hundreds of times... The Mexican federales just pull over 1 out of 10 cars by random. They search your shit for drugs and guns... guns are illegal down there.

Then they'd ask you... WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU MOVING DOWN HERE?!

It was the refuge status remark I was laughing at, not the moving to Canada.

What happened to your green?

It's been tried. There's a thread in either this forum or the news forum

I had problems only when crossing the border from Canada to USA. Going back was a piece of cake.

However, you can't be serious about leaving USA for political reasons. I don't believe that.

I know a little about U.S. and Canadian immigration laws.
I spent 3 years in Florida and skirted around all the U.S. rules

I do know the Canadian Gorvernment isn't in the habit of granting drug users refugee status so they can come to Canada to get stoned!

Good luck in your escape to Canada  but I think you better forget the refugee status ploy. The most it will get you is a bus ticket back to Alabama.

Take Care
