It wasn’t even a free speech thing, I don’t think, those subreddits had long runs.

Eventually some geniuses were using them to sell drugs through Reddit itself, and ruined it for everyone.  :shake:

Free speech? What are you talking about? Read reddit terms.
It has to do with sourcing.

Reddit Content Policy
Reddit is a platform for communities to discuss, connect, and share in an open environment, home to some of the most authentic content anywhere online. The nature of this content might be funny, serious, offensive, or anywhere in between. While participating, it’s important to keep in mind this value above all others: show enough respect to others so that we all may continue to enjoy Reddit for what it is.

Unwelcome content
While Reddit generally provides a lot of leeway in what content is acceptable, here are some guidelines for content that is not. Please keep in mind the spirit in which these were written, and know that looking for loopholes is a waste of time.

Content is prohibited if it

Is illegal
Is involuntary pornography
Is sexual or suggestive content involving minors
Encourages or incites violence
Threatens, harasses, or bullies or encourages others to do so
Is personal and confidential information
Impersonates someone in a misleading or deceptive manner
Uses Reddit to solicit or facilitate any transaction or gift involving certain goods and services
Is spam

It's obviously the 1st one. Illegal

Oh, kay...  no "sourcing and soliciting" was already enforced certain places, but Reddit made it official?

Swore I read people were actually selling drugs on the website, and that contributed to some bannings. Maybe it ain't have shit to do with shit. :justdontknow:

You can’t stop the internet.  If you’re upset at losing backpage and Craigslist, just use listcrawler.  It’s the website the cops are making busts on here where I live.  Apparently everyone on backpage just moved there.

It can't really be a first amendment thing because craigslist is a company, not any kind of government funded entity. I think the decision might be related to the "Craigslist killer", and widespread prostitution on there. They just don't want to be responsible for it.

I've found strage postings on craigslist that seem to be generated by a computer. They come across as well organized nonsense. I'll see if I can find any and post one here. They're creepy.

Well this one may not be from a robot, but it's still unusual.

No. Craigslist got rid of their personals because they are afraid they could be held criminally liable due to the activities the posters were engaged in.

The pope does strange stuff on craigslist. One time he tried to sell some old ski equipment on there and when the buyer showed up, he jacked up the price.

Don't they have vending machines in Japan for that? YEP!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burusera
Burusera (ブルセラ) is a paraphilia, specifically a sexualized attraction to the underwear or school uniforms of girls or young women. It is a word of Japanese origin, coined by combining burumā (ブルマー), meaning bloomers, as in the bottoms of gym suits, and sērā-fuku (セーラー服), meaning sailor suit, the traditional Japanese school uniforms for schoolgirls; notably kogal.[1][2][3] Burusera shops sell girls' used school uniforms, panties and other fetish items.
