Also people saying to me that ego death is nothing to do with forgetting who you are but according to psychonaut wiki that's EXACTLY what it's about:

Also people saying it isn't dose dependent. Psychonaut wiki says the effect is directly related to the dose.

I'm wondering if half the people commenting know what they're talking about now haha

I'm (kinda) with bod on this one. You get this experience of one-ness without actually the reality of one-ness. It's like window shopping for high-end cars. You get to watch, but you don't get to drive. And this is where the "kinda" part kicks in. If you were really in ego death/one-ness/cosmically conscious/whatever you would choose not to come back. Since (pretty much) everybody does, your ego really didn't die but just took a brief vacation.

However, again like my lusting after a Model X, you now know it's there. How you integrate the experience into your day-to-day is the benefit you bring back. I'm still working on the Universe to get me the Tesla, but not nearly as long as I've been working on integrating the oneness.

Think of it more as redefining "I". You are conscious of everything, everyone, and all - all - of the connections. You seem to be looking for a rational explanation, succinctly described in a bullet-point summary, with step-by-step instructions for something that is better described as Jackson Pollack given an infinite amount of paint, in an infinite range of colors, with an infinitely large canvas and told by the Universe to: "Knock yourself out."

My suggestion to you would be to look for the experience not the dosage. Take a gram and just wait and see what you are shown. When you know the direction you are going, take a couple of weeks to integrate that into your life and take a couple of grams, or less, and do the same thing.

Find out what you're looking for (information that's available at a dose of 0 grams), and then seek it out.

Somehow you got the wrong idea about this shit, but I don't know how to explain it any better than what I said already.  I mean, you don't just dip in and out of it.

I think you prolly just need to go there for real and stop reading about what people say about something that can't actually be talked about.  If you can talk about it it ain't it.

No that's fucked up if you think memory suppression is "ego death".  That's just normal.  Everybody gets that, just like paranoia.  :laugh2:

One way to have ego death is to die and be reborn.  Shrooms are very good at making this happen.
I've never actually died on shrooms, but I died on DXM and accepting my death was a very strange thing to go through.  I assume it's also strange on shrooms. 
I think the dose isn't the only factor to achieve ego death, but it's a strong factor.  Ego death from anything less than 3.5g shrooms seems suspect. 
Another strong factor is your own brain.  If you're more willing to let go then there's a better chance you'll have ego death.

Don't listen to what you read, find out for yourself.  While there are themes in tripping that can be felt across the board, a lot of what tripping is about is subjective and the depth of your trips  are often dependent on where your head is at so I personally don't believe it is dose dependent.  I have had more powerful and "ego-dissolving" experiences on 3.5g than 10g.  Eat a couple grams and sit still and see where it takes you doggy :goodluck:

I would argue eating mushrooms strengthens the ego. Especially if you're trying to seek "ego death"

There's not a lot more selfish than doing drugs to try to be selfless

Well, I feel like there is a lot more selfish things that people can do, but I agree with you lol.

I haven't seen them do much at all positively (or negatively) for anyone's ego.  I had my first "argument" with psychedelics a few months ago because I came to the realization that I found no "spiritual" answers through my psych use and I could not find one particular example of how they positively changed my ego.

I did, thankfully, see and accept that these drugs can be very healthy for me when used for other reasons, such as using them for cathartic release and motivation for living a healthier lifestyle.

The extent of long lasting good ive seen from psychedelic drugs are increased work ethic or curiosities. The feeling of being more connected with the world which people often mistake for some sort of ego loss though it's a feeling of the ego. And the there is temporary benefits like sometimes people try to do their "new years resolution" type things. But if you really resolved to change something you don't like in your life you just fucking do it

No one's become some spiritually enlightened individual completely devoid of ego. Not even close ever. What do people who typically are thought of as egoless and enlightened have in common? Not using drugs at all and an extreme amount of introspection and hard work absolutely without mind altering substance.

For sure. 

I find the mushroom experience being so worth it simply for the beautiful and mezmorizing memories they leave behind.  I mean, man, before psychs i had no clue you could create moments like those in your own mind.

Those memories remind me when I'm feeling down that the world is pretty incredible.

Superficial ego dissolution thanks to tripping gives people a taste of what can be accomplished with dedicated work (sober or shroomed - it doesn't matter which - but it's still work). 

But the difference between the cliff notes version and the real thing is the real thing doesn't pretend to be anything at all, and it doesn't disappear when the trip ends. That's how you can tell the difference.

Having an "ego death" may make you feel special but it's sort of the opposite.  And if you go off bragging about it - or anything else - you know it's BS in the end. 

It's like it's become some sort of New Age nonsense.  "How big was yours?"

I've taken some massive doses of shrooms(40+ dry grams) and not experienced ego death in the same sense that I have gotten from LSD. I tend to maintain some sense of my self on shrooms, whereas on LSD I've had a complete disruption of self usually in doses of over 1,000 mics and particularly at even higher does - 2500 mics or so.
