I would consider voting for Tulsi Gabbard. I can't really see Trump attacking the character of someone like Tulsi Gabbard.

Tulsi is also a veteran, which is always a bonus against a draft dodger.

Though she may not run this time around, everyone on the shroomery should sign her new petition to end the federal marijuana prohibition:

in my email today

Quote:
I'll be blunt: We need a presidential candidate who cares about working class and poor people. There's just too much on the line.

Bernie Sanders has galvanized millions around Medicare for All, tuition-free public college, 100% renewable energy, a $15 minimum wage, and other policies that would vastly improve our lives. He stands apart in his dedication to building a grassroots movement and a truly progressive agenda for all.

Let's show Bernie that we're ready. Sign our petition now to tell him that you've got his back if he runs for president in 2020.

Our Revolution is the continuation of the bottom-up energy that fueled Bernie's 2016 campaign. Our 250,000 members, over 600 local groups, and millions of supporters are building grassroots power across the country. We've elected progressives up and down the ballot, democratized the Democratic Party, and continued the fight for universal health care, free public college, and a host of other progressive issues. Now we need a US President who shares our movement's desire for social and economic justice.

Our message to Senator Sanders should be loud and clear: Run, Bernie, Run!

Be a part of convincing Bernie to run for president. Sign and share this petition now.

2016 was just the beginning. It's time we take out the ballpoint pens, find the clipboards, and start talking to people about the next President of the United States.

Add your name to tell Bernie you'll be with him for 2020!

In solidarity,

Heather Gautney
Executive Director
Our Revolution

so would Bernie have to go through a primary against the dems again or do you think he could run independently? Would be interesting to see him have a fair shot.

If he goes without a party that is a sure loss.

Dems just put their hat in the ring.  Same as Repubs.  Or any party.

Third party candidates in presidential elections would never see the White House, even if they won the most electoral college votes, because you must receive a majority of votes (at least 270) If an election is split 3 ways, nobody will get a majority and the election would be determined by a House vote. Obviously the party in power will pick their own party’s candidate.

The practical implications of Bernie running third party would be a split in liberal leaning votes and the election of the Republican. Guaranteed.

I think he's better off running as a Dem.  He'll start off near the lead, most likely.

My guess is that Tulsi would be Bernie's VP.

Welp, add Tulsi to the list!

Democratic Hawaii Rep. Gabbard running for president in 2020

It's going to be a tough choice between her and Bernie.  Maybe Tulsi because of her age?

The establishment media will hammer Tulsi, meaning she'd be a great candidate for the people.  Even the Huffington Post (now a Verizon company) started with this:
Quote:
The Hawaii congresswoman claims to represent the rising left but has ties to authoritarianism and Islamophobia abroad.

It's clear many American's (eg koods) aren't smart enough to read past this type of smear propaganda, as "ties" means nothing more than "she visited Syria to discover the truth there", but actually voted to limit visas from countries with a high ISIS population, making her an islamophobe.

"ties to authoritarianism and Islamophobia"

I imagine Bernie has so much more name recognition, more of a base and more experience. Shame he's getting on a bit. Is it right that he would be the oldest person elected as President?

Bernie and Tulsi were very close in 2016.  I'm a little surprised she's running against him, but maybe she knows something the rest of us don't.
