Trump's breaks a National Shut-Down Record!

For longest partial shutdown in US history if it lasts till Saturday. Will he do it? Or will he fail? Will a deal be made before than?

A lot of Republicans in congress are getting wigged out. Especially the ones who are up for reelection in 2020. I don't see Trump or the Democrats backing down. It may very well lead to Trump going the emergency powers route. Some Republican think they or their party are going to pay a price for this, and it's safe to say that their numbers are growing every day now. Trump's base are holding firm, but they are getting isolated.

    I think every day this goes on benefits the Democrats.

In other news, a Brazilian company is getting millions of dollars of taxpayers money in farm bailouts to compensate them for Trumps tariffs.

So if we are paying for a wall to keep illegals  from coming and working for farmers who can’t stay in buisiness without us giving them money , aren’t we going to have to give them even more money so they can attract workers from here who don’t want to work for them ?
  This is lunacy . Whats going to happen to our national debt ? What happened to the Tea Party ? Is it too late to join?

Or you can have a program to bring over Mexican labor. Relying on people to break the law and enter the us illegally to provide cheap labor is pretty irresponsible business practice, and i don't know how anyone could support it.
If Mexican (slave) labor is required for we can enjoy cheaper produce then a work program is definitely warranted and should be implemented. Relying on illegals is setting a bad precedent and just results in infighting within the American public and puts more risk for on the Mexicans willing to travel and break the law for work.

It’s not slave labor. But it is labor that Americans refuse to do, not so much because the pay is low
But because the work is seasonal and requires moving from town to town following the harvest.

We need to bring these workers into a legal regime.

Picking strawberries sucks.  I dislike picking my own blueberries for me, off my own crop.

Migrant work tends to be worse than slave labor.  You end deeper in debt working migrant work.  The boss charges for food, shelter, transport, whatever they can.  Paying less than they charge for cost of living.

Well comparing the difficulties of the job combined with the extremely low wages, i would consider that to be slave labor. If fruit picking paid a decent wage then im sure that Americans wouldn't refuse to do the work.
So besides that and since they are "vital" why not have a work program that ships them in and ships them out? Similar to Canada's. It would be way better than having people break to law to come the America to work, and then being surprised that they don't return home...

Good question. He probably thought he couldn't get a significant wall even through the Republicans. Now that it's pretty much out of the question he just seems to be grandstanding for his base. He doesn't seem to understand the implications of a long shutdown, but I definitely think congressional Republicans are going to walk away from this fiasco.


    Maybe Trump is just getting tired of the frustrations of his Presidency and he wants to go out with a bang. If he thinks he's going to win this he's even more delusional than we thought.

Trump is the president and he wants money for a barrier. The money could easily be given to him, but democrats are refusing to work to re-open the government because the wall is "immoral."

What's immoral is Chuck Schumer supporting a physical barrier before, but not now.

This is now the Dems fault.

They backtracked on their "principles" and now America can see it.
