the apocalypse and what to do about it
    #25693663 -

I found this horrible video while soaking in my bath

I think it sums up both sides of the sticky identity issues

What's funny is there's so few women on this forum.

as regards women not on forum

A line from a Dylan song comes to mind:
"she's too wise to argue or to judge"

which is a lot of what goes on here,
so what's here to attract any?

And they're supposed to be more into building relationships,
whereas argument often tends to get personal and nasty rather quickly,
which is of course destructive of cultivating an atmosphere of openness,
which is necessary for true relationship to flourish.

etc. etc.

you know the whole deal about competition, testosterone, mating, duels...etc.

I'm a member of the most left wing party in denmark

one of the best things we can do is vote left. they know what to do and they will do it more when you vote for them

even the most left wing are slow in stopping climate change, twice as much doing something about it would be perfect, maybe more

spirituality is one of the commodities on this earth that are worth the most

we need to think of it in a spiritual context

the weather change is part of the error we pay for having focused on the matierial, over-emphasizing it contra spirituality

we need to think of it from the vantage point of earlier humanity before the error

and from the vantage point of spirituality

right wing politics is as bad as a crime

if it was up to them, they would ruin the earth causing bad weather

well, here's a very honest way of thinking of the corporations she talked about, where 70% of the co2 comes from

make a calculation. does it do 50% positive and 50% negative?
then ok
does it do less than 50% positive?
then close it

they are endangering the world in a big way so I doubt 2 of the companies does 50% positive

we need to think like the buddha did

we need to think what would buddha do

buddha would quit 98% of the co2 emission. from those companies.

we need to be incredibly wise about this. almost noone on the earth thinks about this the way we must think about this.

I kinda think we should think more like this lady (er) guy who is becoming a lady, but not necessarily exactly like that, unless you feel that way.

https://www.youtube.com/user/ContraPoints

I particularly like the one about how to recognize a facist.
quite enlightening, yet I feel strange watching it - in a good way, like talking to my hairapist.

You mean your interpretation of what Buddha would do, which is just what you would do because you're incredibly wise, while almost no one else on Earth is as wise as you?

Two entities sitting on my shoulder. Both say they are wise. I think they're generally both full of shit.

Personally, I think Buddha would be skeptical. After all, he was responsible for a Hindu reformation. But that's just me. Or is it?

'Buddha' isn't about people, nor a single person.

It's about the divine essence (called 'Buddah') underlying in all people.

So it was his divine essence that would make executive decisions based on science he doesn't understand?

Buddha would be opposed to money grab tax scams that force the poor and middle class to pay more for an essential product they need to get to work and stay warm, among other things.

The divine essence which regards itself as one would, no doubt, hold that condition true.

Discrimination and division is only in the eye of the person who doesn't know 'Buddah'...and regards it as the single man Gautama.

What's being proposed is an appeal to authority, in this case scientists and now Buddha (whether it's Sid or everyone). Spiritual elitism goes hand in hand with the politics of AGW so I guess it makes perfect sense.

Spot on. I've learned more about men here than I ever learned in six decades of life. I never before would've imagined that a question about mushroom cultivation could result in a forum thread version of a barroom with every chair splintered to toothpicks and every glass smashed to tiny shards, and me observing from the street outside.

For my part, a girl is often looking for conversation and community as much as information. Instead, a three word response, or UTFSE is a common and unsatisfying response.

This Buddhism tangent as relates to the apocalypse or even Christmas, is all speculation.

What I would say is that through bare attention, Buddha's awareness and apprehension would likely be less defensive and more open minded than TRUMP's.

For a living example most would point out the Dalai Lama who is largely unpredictable except for showing up at engagements.

showing up is 99%
i.e. fulfilling on realistic promises.
