What's your worst/most memorable mycology injury?

After my girlfriend almost stabbed herself yesterday making holes in pastey plate lids, we started talking about potential mycology accidents, and wondered what some of you guys may have experienced.

So I decided to start the thread after burning my forearm on my 23 quart presto this morning! Lol

Let's hear some good one's, there's quite a few potential ways to get fucked up in this hobby, burned, cut, poisoned maybe?

lol I did that the other night, was going to put the lid on it all quick and shyte... poked myself right in the center of my hand... glove kept in the blood and didn't really hurt since it's nice and sharp.... dunno why I was tryin to slap in in there like a myco cowboy...

I bang grain jars against my leg. Thousands of em not a single broken one ever. Sometimes i just shake them like a baby without banging them against anything at all.

Everyone told me I would sever an artery in my leg or something but it hasn't happened yet :sad:

Oh yeah, might be superficial, but sore ass hands and legs from banging out 30 jars in a row.

I have a mountain bike in the basement...to lazy to pump up the tires I guess. Lol

lol must got some thick legs... my bony ass would have em shatter like hitting on a rock... I use a pillow on the hardwood... Now gonna always picture Bod with thick ass runner legs...

I've cut my finger drilling holes in mason jar lids... twice.:blush:
I bang jars against a Mouser Electronics catalogue, 1,854 free pages of jar banging fun. Order once and they send them regularly.

I hurt myself all the time... I haven't cut myself yet, but it's coming I'm sure... burn myself a lot, but I cook a lot, so rather desensitized from the sort... I smack my hand with the jars, doesn't really bother me... though never really done more than 8-10 jars at once either

I turned my SAB into a alcohol bomb...  flames shot out around my arm holes.. with my arms inside of course. The whole box SCREECHED! and HISSED! as the fumes burned off.  Whole ordeal lasted like 2 seconds maybe..  but my god. I just walked away thinking. What in the fuck. :facepalm:

I burned the shit outta my hand and fingers last week on steam... I use a dremel or a drill to make all my holes. I think everyone in this hobby should have a dremel I use it all the time! For my plastic jar lids, pasty lids, and fruiting chambers and so on...

I was trying to get stubborn duct tape off  a cracked tub, with an xacto in hand. The tape gave way,arm came flying back, the entire blade went into my chest, xacto literally sticking out of my chest. Profusely bleeding, went to the ER, docs thought I got stabbed, so they called the cops,lol. They said I missed my lung by a 1/4". " Really doc, it was self inflicted, just a xacto knife, I was trying to remove duct tape, no one stabbed me." Did lose a lot of blood 6 stiches. I was admitted immediately, seriously, my shirt was saturated with blood as well as my pants. It looked serious. My buddies seatbelt in his car, is permanently stained with blood.

A couple days ago I was drilling holes in lids, and I put a piece of ply wood on my lap as a barrier to stop the drill bit from going too far. Well, I obviously was being a dumb ass because I drilled through the lid, through the wood and right into my thigh. Bled like crazy. Wasn't too deep though thankfully.

I have no idea why I was even doing it like that :shrug: :huxleyfacepalm: I literally have a woodshop in my garage and ample space to do shit properly.

I was an ironworker for 8 years, :lol:

Got all my digits, no injuries. At home though I am probably a lot less careful than on a job site

Not mycology related but one time I accidentally stabbed my finger with a syringe that had LSD solution in it.


*poke*, "oh fuck, how much LSD just went into my bloodstream". Made for an interesting night though, ahaha.
