I’d also point out that most English speakers can’t read a blueprint either. Blueprints are not intended for laymen. They use special notations and symbols that require training to understand.

Diversity hire.

Sounds like from xuls description, he could have been a diversity hire. Maybe they needed a certain number of unilingual employees since most of the people working there were somewhat bilingual. I have never met an illegal who couldn’t speak English to some extent.

Honestly it sounds like that factory should have switched languages to Spanish. Then they could have had two shift working and dumped the one that wasn’t Spanish speaking .

It affects everything- lower wages, higher unemployment, higher health care costs, higher taxes, less social benefits and ultimately a lower standard of living for US citizens.

Production had their own standards and hiring process. They should have known that diversity can mean negative results.

You aren't talking about diversity, you are talking about a language/communication barrier.

Exactly.  My company is a Fortune 500 company that is minority white.  But everyone is required to communicate in English and the company is doing quite well.

Statistics please.  Just saying "immigrants do drugs" isn't really an argument because non immigrants do drugs too.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

I believe that statement is incorrect.
Immigration adds more tax payers to the economy.

That's a wonderful insight, why don't we bring in 50 million broke third world migrants so we have "more tax payers to the economy"?  :flowstone:

Making the number two orders of magnitude bigger is not the same situation. That would be a crisis. We aren’t talking about that so why do you alway make that argument? It’s like saying “if you like drinking 4 liters of water a day, why don’t you drink 400”

What if we brought in 50 million rich third world migrants?

What difference does it make, illegals and their children are a NET DRAIN on tax use in the US. Just because someone pays taxes on a pack of gum doesn't mean they create a tax surplus.

It doesn't matter if there's 400 or 24 million, all broke migrants are a net DRAIN on the government finances.

Yes that would work great, in no time those 50 million wouldn't be broke.
This isn't my idea, it's called economics, look it up sometime, you may gain some insight as well.

That's an absurd argument. The entire US population of 325 million doesn't even comprise 50 million immigrants, legal and illegal combined.

Depends if they share the same Western values. We don't want multiculturalism, too many social issues.

Are they stealing our jobs or are they unemployed and broke? Both cannot be true. Do you think they come over and live in public housing surviving on food stamps or something?

Really, bringing in millions of broke migrants into first world nations to create economic prosperity is "called economics"? :huxleyfacepalm:

Another way to phrase that is bringing in millions of low wage workers.

He made the assertion that immigrants add more taxpayers, under that line of reasoning, wouldn't more be better?

What do you think happens when illegals undercut wages and then use social services paid for by the US taxpayer?

Yes, they hurt US wages and then hurt the US citizen on taxes and social benefits.

There's a price to pay for the elite using cheap illegal labor in the US and it lands on the steps of the average US citizen.

No, for the same reason that dumping 50 million highly educated engineers and stem majors into the economy would not be better; we're not equipped to handle such a massive influx regardless of their credentials, nationality, legality, or whatever else.

Who promotes immigration?  The elite because it benefits them at the expense of the native population.

Why do you think my Polish ancestors were allowed to enter the US over 100 years ago?  To undercut the wages of the native population and that's exactly what they did.
