Vinyl is a novelty format for hipsters and people who like to suffer. There is no advantage over a plain 16-bit 44.1khz file. Unless you like the pops and distortion (“warmth”) and think it “adds to the experience”. But you can get distortion from a digital source too with a tube amp.

Yall know that if you listen to/collect vinyl you can still listen to/collect digital files too, right?

I'm actually thinking about getting a tube amp now that you mention it. I have some big speakers that people have claimed are harsh due to amp distortion and I think i might have damaged a tweeter blasting them. Idk anything about audio/circuits though and tube amps are expensive so I let it be.

I collect vinyl and love it, but yeah.  True af.

I also agree with your statement about FLAC. People who claim vinyl sounds best are lying to themselves.  I am enamored with the charm of records, but some people get real stupid about “warmth”.

I’m with you though, OP. As silly as it is in 2018, I love my records and go to some length to have my favorite stuff on vinyl.

Look into tube headphone amps. More cost effective than a hi-fi amp and easily "rollable". With the right headphones, it'll get the job done. If you just want to add a little color to your music sometimes.

What would I need to drive my floor speakers and center channel

They are all 8 ohm 250w

This is so damn confusing I see why they can sell em for so much

Vinyl has character. Each press has it's own kinda hiss and pop and crackle that adds sort of unique originality to each record even of the same album.
Where the sound may be pleasing to the ears it is still not the best quality (clarity wise) unless it's a newer pressing. They are getting really good with crisp clean sounding vinyls now. I have a repress of Wish You Were Here and it sounds amazingly clear through my system.

These are some budget speakers I'm familiar with. They say max 240 and these are known to be easy to drive. As long as 250 isn't the minimum juice needed, you probably don't need anything super fancy.

250 is the max output but they are hissy when under driven

im too high to be looking at numbers. I use a receiver thats 100w per channel and that is more than enough.

Yeah, a 100W receiver is fine for 99% of people. Gains after that are diminishing returns. Doubling from my 100W/channel receiver to a 200W amplifier provided me barely noticeable gains, and I doubt I could even tell the difference under blinded conditions.
