The other day I was talking about the selling point of "100% VINYL SET!!!" that you'll occasionally see on party flyers these days. Do you know if that's an effective marketing tactic? I wonder if it draws in a hipster subset that might not have gone to the event otherwise. I can't imagine it makes much of a difference.

Sometimes you even see an all vinyl night advertised where every dj just plays vinyl. I speculate that these nights are most fun for the dj's involved, getting to spin like its 1999 again. Must be nostalgic and/or masturbatory. Most people in the crowd don't know/care what is being played.

spinderella from salt n' pepa has an all 45's night here that sometimes features big names (derrick carter was out last year). but that's kind of a different market. i can't see many party goers being all that hyped up for an all vinyl set for electronic music these days.
