explain to me vinyl hipsters * 1

I cant see the point in using this very outdated technology. Are people just being hipster for the sake of being hipster? If offers literally no advantages. Yet its extremely inconvenient, blasts music without headphones, costs a buttload, needs lots of space to store, worse sound quality. ect

It takes skill in mixing vinyl.

It commands respect, IMO, with the digital age people download music and crap it out like it's meaningless.

I've listened to all my vinyl untill they've gone grey... Likewise if a DJ/live artist mixes with vinyl, it tells me he knows his music through and through.

I collect because I want to collect. Almost every record in my very modest collection is an album I love or by an artist I love. I can get almost anything I could ever want for free, so my record collection is kind of a way of saying "here is the shit I'm willing to spend money on." It's what I would be listening to if music piracy wasn't so ubiquitous in my life.

It's not really "outdated". I doubt you could tell the difference in sound quality (though it's an ongoing debate and people in both camps think their preferred format is better). I listen to music without headphones regardless if I'm listening to digital or analog (I mean seriously what kind of argument is that :lol: speakers are unquestionably superior sound quality). It's not inconvenient.

It does cost more and it does take space. I'm willing to spend more and I'm not exactly short on space, so I guess those two things don't bother me.

The vinyl resurgence definitely had a bit of hipster-esque influence, but for the most part I think it's well past that. Especially since the concept of a "hipster" is so fucking diluted at this point that the word is meaningless.

An analog recording of sound is different than a digital one.  Some people might say that it is even more accurate, a more honest representation of the original without digital filters.  As to which sounds better, that is a matter of opinion, and people are entitled to their opinion.

Its like saying "why would anyone use a grand piano when they could use a keyboard?".  The answer should be obvious if you aren't biased in favor of keyboards.

It's like FLAC but more acoustic

It is so fragile and difficult to listen to, you really go out of your way to listen to a special creation compared to regular mp3s: low quality self service music. It's almost symbolic of life itself, the way such a grand orchestration hinges on such fragile technology...the vinyl spins the way the earth does...and then you flip it over..and you take care of your records and you shine them and you lovingly place them back in their jackets. you purchase the records you buy and you cherish each one in its own way.

aside from that, the quality is spectacular and if you work a job or can manage money..you can afford a great listening experience for what may seem like a slightly unaffordable starting price, but after that it pays itself off. This is only if you really love music.

love smoking weed and listening to my vinyl..love listening to music the way it was meant to be heard...CD's are great too. Not going to get into that debate..

If youre going to purchase music. Please don't purchase a 192kbp mp3 or AAC or whatever. Just don't. Please own your music if you aren't pirating it. One has got to understand that you get nothing but Data when you purchase music online. Spotify is even worse, the sound is tinny, you own nothing but background music..

Isn't it nice to hold a great big blown up artwork that breathes in front of your face..that you love to hold with both arms?

IF you like to listen to music on the go, pirate hi quality rips of your album or use the download code that sometimes comes with your album purchase...why don't you make your favorite music a listening experience and keep what you listen to on the go as mp3s or cd's..

vinyl is the true at home choice for musical indulgence and dedication

why do you close minded Bros always rip on hipsters? don't you understand there is something special and meaningful behind each and every act you take in life.

it's like you fucks didn't learn anything from the Psychedelic experience. Or got burned by it and just don't love music as you once did, disillusionment. vinyl is crisp music for those who stare or glance around the world in wide eyed wonder and amusement.

everything in life is symbolic. the love you place into acquiring something is the love you receive..it's basic Love guys. Call me a hipster you sound like a mental deadweight...
