Vinyl is a novelty format for hipsters and people who like to suffer. There is no advantage over a plain 16-bit 44.1khz file. Unless you like the pops and distortion (“warmth”) and think it “adds to the experience”. But you can get distortion from a digital source too with a tube amp.

The artwork / inserts alone make it that much more fun of a way to appreciate music before you even play anything.

The problem is, people equate digital with “MP3”. But were it a battle of sound quality, and not “my format is cooler because it’s collectible and nerdy”, a FLAC file played on a nice rig will destroy your piece of plastic that degrades over time.

agreed but that is more work/money than vinyl

I'd rather all my mp3's be 320kbps than to have flac. Streaming quality is getting better too anyways.

I got pictures somewhere of all the 12” records I sold, as in, got rid of (all of them). Maybe I’ll poast a few. I actually want to get into 45’s but I haven’t found the right player. Fuck the big ones though!

I only have like half a dozen records. It would make sense for me to get some cause I really only listen to the same albums.

It is stupid and inconvenient but I feel like a vinyl record should be the final resting place for your favorite tunes. I think they are an important medium for independent artists as well.
