i think the alt left was absorbed necessarily by the democrats as the party is obviously fracturing. theres at least 4 factions right now in the democrat party. the neolibs defined by their focus on corporations and globalism who do not care much about social justice issues, the democratic socialst wing lead by bernie  & ocazio cortez who want increased taxes and government programs, the forgotten centrist democrat, and the radical left who are small in number but the most vocal on social media. the radical alt left would be groups like bam or antifa. to keep the coalition together the party as a whole has had to move far left. next election id expect disaffected bernie voters to vote green or form a new party that advocates their interests. the whole corporate focus of neo libs is off putting to dem socialists in my opinion.

Apparently everything from militant anarchists to authoritarian communists to party Democrats to Lindsey Lohan.

The intent seems to be to frame alt-left as the opposite of alt-right and create a false equivalence between groups on the far ends of the right and left. But here's the thing: No left-wing group has ever called itself the alt-left. And the groups smeared by the alt-left label don't include anything like the heinousness of overt white supremacism that has increasingly defined the alt-right.

It's a blanket term some right-wing media commentators and white nationalists have taken to throwing over groups they disagree with, like the umbrella of "fake news" they use to describe stories they disagree with. Doing so manages to both minimize the ugliness of the alt-right and vastly overstate the actions and intentions of leftist groups.

The "alt left," which most people would take to include antifa, the black bloc, various socialist/communist orgs, explicitly denounce the Democrat party.

If shroomism wants to make a thread about how shitty liberals and democrats are, i'm here for it. But implying people like Bette Midler are the alt left is laughable.
