Our brain takes in sensory data at the raw input level from our stimuli detectors, then there's a slight slight delay. That delay is when brain areas such as the posterior cingulate cortex join together the raw data from different areas to merge with our thinking/frontal brain and show "us" the whole "conscious reality" thing. Think of why smell can influence taste, mood can influence color, etc. There are hubs that connect the raw data from different channels, filter most of it out, add in some new stuff to fill in some blanks, and in a nutshell that's our conscious experience.

Mushrooms slow down or can even nearly(possibly fully) stop the activity in that posterior cingulate cortex. One major part of giving your life depth, often referred to as the "sense of self" center of brain, isn't doing its job any more, your sense of self and many other things become distorted or may even fade away.

Without that sense of self, it may logically be very difficult to assume that anyone else has a "self". Whatever that raw data is... who knows, but in almost every respect we're all just creations of each others' brains. Things get very confusing from there. We're all a part of this seemingly stable experience that can be turned upside with the simple ingestion of a mushroom.

Another example would be being Vegan - Watch the show naked and afraid, watch how the vegans struggle,  i honestly find it kinda funny.. why?

Its only because of technology and advances in the way we produce food that being able to be vegan is even possible. If you were a vegan before the 1900's it would be almost impossible to get the nutrients that you need to survive, a good source of protein would have been relatively hard to find. vegans on that show will starve and lose way more weight while watching people scarf down eel or alligator.

Ha, other less-wholesome psychoactive substances stole my life for a few years.

I hate my posts, lots of words but never any real answers

I do find it interesting discussing how basic neuroscience could apply to the psychedelic experience, ultimately I think it just makes me more confused though. The day anyone can thoroughly explain to me why I've experienced non-linear time on 3.5g is the day I (might) start having faith in science in these types of talks.

LIFE FEEDS ON LIFE, FEEDS ON LIFE...FEEDS ON LIFE...
.

-tool. (Undertow album)

Anyways.  I have fucked myself over caring too much about appearances in relationships.  I have given up pursuing girls who would of made great partners in life because i was so hung up on them not being slim and super attractive. It’s taken me till recently to realize I’m not that fuckin attractive either and I should of just given them a chance. I’ve also let girls who were really attractive have too much control in relationships just because of their looks. I guess it’s a problem for me. I’m also very fearful of being nice to chicks I don’t find attractive because I’m afraid of them getting interested in me and putting me in a situation where I have to reject them.

When I was younger I picked chicks I thought I’d want to screw into old age. Now as I get older I just want a down bitch who will help me around the house and make breakfast. And of course screw me into old age. But yeah. Breakfast and living a nice clean life. Way more important now than a perfect appearance.

Riding on the theme of these most recent posts maybe. If we are all just creations of eachothers minds. We are just each putting our own puzzle piece into a collective puzzle we are creating by having this discussion. And we are each getting out of seeing this puzzle, what we need to get out of it. And so, we can’t hold a puzzle piece and the puzzle in our minds at one time to put two and two together to understand both the piece and the puzzle all at once. Leaving us forever curious and incomplete when it comes to beholding the answers that would allow us to understand everything all at once on our own accord.

Idfk.

Thanks bro.

It’s probably because I just don’t give a fuck and do/say whatever I want. I took a pretty good hit with the ratings with some cat jokes that weren’t appreciated.  I’m pretty sure a few mods and their loyal members have collectively decided to just have it out for me. But it’s all good. It’s the gd Internet. Life goes on beyond shroomery ratings.

Hopefully one day soon I meet a good woman though...that I’m attracted to physically and mentally/spiritually(w.e). One of the things I fear most in life is that never happening.

You're so right. There is a life beyond shroomery ratings

Yeah, good explanation! And it is possible that the brain needs to create alternative pathways to overcome this shutdown of the posterior cingulate cortex. Pathways that now become available to you even after tripping. Hence "mind expansion"...

Or flashbacks... that I believe are just reactivation of some of those non-standard pathways by some stimuli. But eventually you 'forget them' and they fade.

Or freaky trippy dreams!

i just had an experience where i experienced my own death, where time didnt exist and i was teleporting through different parts of my life.

I am you, You are me. We are GOD. We are everything. Aliens exist, UFOs exist, everything exists because we are the universe and we have created that experience.

I experienced the singularity and timelessness but the thing is, you can know everything but to know everything you have to give something up. i was able to ask GOD for answers and was given answers but the more you know the harder it pulls you away from reality, while i did experience my own death i couldnt tell when it was because the details all around me , walls, chairs, were morphing in and out of existence and constantly changing.

The more i do psychedelics the more i end up in this timeless place. i can feel the atoms in my body being broken down and rebuilt. I'm not scared of death but me excited to see what will be on the other side.

I have experienced this a few other times but this is the first time i could completely remember being there before.

Yes the place is familiar, its as if i was no longer in reality, since i died i was asking myself, well whats next? what happened the next day? i experienced some of the instances of my previous trip.

something interesting was the people i love were around me, and the closer i got to the oneness, they started to disappear, morph into my own body.

You cant have your cake and eat it too, you cant be the universal everything while experiencing life and if you want to be apart of this world you have to give up some oneness.

ill update this soon but im still overwhelmed by the whole thing.

You say that you talked to "God" and that "God" answered you.  You also say that you think that you are God.

So, you talked to yourself?

There is a GOD who is separate from us. That God is Entheogens. That GOD doesn't pull you away from reality but shows you the Truth.

Saint John said, "On those who have accepted Them however, They have conferred the right of being Children of God. That is, on those who believe in Their Name (Entheogens) - who owe THIS birth of theirs to God (Entheogens), not to human blood, nor any impulse of the flesh (copulation), or of humans."
--St. John, 1, 12

In other words - HE is saying that there is a GOD who IS NOT HUMAN, (Entheogens), that you can be born from and can become one of Their Children.

And that happens by accepting Their Name - Entheogens.

There are many people who spiritually "die" from Entheogens

There are few who are born from Them.

Well if there was a god that cared on the very least for human affairs why did he put us in such a unimaginably large universe, where the earth inhabited by humans is less than a grain of sand in the sahara desert as compared just with our galaxy, not to talk about anything larger. Why do we need an infinite universe just to inhabit a tinly speckle of dust in it?

Why also do we have an expiry date, when the sun will run out of fuel in 5 billion years and consume the earth in his fire? The earth will be gone and the universe will still exist forever.

Putting antropomorphic characteristics in "god", thinking it has a human-like mind, or intelligence, and cares about right or wrong, morality, etc... is a childish mistake. It does not mean we should not care about those things ouraelves however. But those things are purely human constructs. They have no meaning in nature outside of human experience. Just observe wild animals, or observe astrophysical processes that rip apart whole planet systems and stars like you crush ants.

The god hypothesis is not needed. It is wild speculation without any evidence. Therefore should be rejected. Like any other weird/wild theory without evidence that is also not needed. It is as likely as a teapot orbiting the sun:

Plus what problem, exactly, does the existence of god solve? What isn this god thing? Where did he come from? How was he created? What rules does it obey? None at all? Do we really want to go there? And if he obeys some rules, who did the rules that god himself has to obey?

I'll tell you the answer that all smart religious men have come up with after pondering those questions:

Stop asking. It is about believing, not understanding.

Fine. I actually dont understand everything, but dont just believe convenient bs either.

Free yourself from the chains of false belief.

There is plenty of magic and beauty in the world, we dont need false ideas to support us psychologically.
