Is herpes really that bad? * 2
    #25081475 -

The other week a little o' ho was flirting with me. I knew she had the herp-a-derp but she taught I didn't know. After many attempts of kissing me I finally asked a confirming question about her situation with herp. That was the worst idea ever because the next half was listening to her bawl over having a STI which would change topic to convincing me why herpes is nothing bad and isn't even a STI you "have to inform the other person of." This is why I have no faith in women my age. The only difference between her and the others is she has herp and the others have yet to get it. Any thuoghts? Any one support the girl and herpes is nothing serious and not even "required" to tell your sex buddy, or am I not the only person who thinks that's fucked?

as with so much in biology... "it depends" It is true that 2/3'rds of the human population has herpes, so it is VERY widespread, what may matter is if its type 1 or type 2.

type 1, cold sores... most everyone gets them (well roughly 2/3rds of people get them) and 9 times out of 10 they clear up before you even notice anything more than a bit of dryness around the corner of your mouth.

type 2 (the type in your nethers) on the other hand... well... it can be benign, but it can lead to mroe severe complications.

where it gets more complicated is how herpes interacts with other viruses. it DOES lower your immune system, which means you may get sick more often, and otherwise benign sicknesses may hit you harder.

if you have an auto-immune disease, or contract one... well... your gonna have a bad time.

most people only ever have one or two breakouts in their life and then become a passive carrier... frankly, there is a very good chance you have it already.

that being said, taking precautions is never a bad thing, but its hardly a deal breaker when it comes to hulk smash.

So what if the chick has type one and type two at the same time? At least her mouth said type one but the 2 people I know who stuck it in her meat loaf were later tested positive for type 2. They also talk about how it doesn't feel good to pee all the time. I don't get how that worth it. Also how does some one passively carry genital herpes?

*And here is a prime example of sex ed gone wrong now a days, or not? My school's sex ed class both middle and high school was literally a church dude from the same church the principle goes to and they tell us everyone has STIs and you'll go to hell if you fuck before marriage. Yeah, sex ed fail*

oh I had the whole "religous sex ed" as well (my mom was all in favor of it till my teenage sister made her a grandmother lol)

as far as how they can be a non-visible carrier... its simple, outbreaks aren't constant. at least not in most cases. and more often than not they are internal (shocker if you went through christian sex-ed... but the genitals actually go inside the body too)

now herpes is "generally" only infectious during an outbreak, but in the case of herpes 2, even the female might not know they are having an outbreak, because just like with type 1, the only symptoms tend to be a little bit dyer than usual and some tenderness.

still, even with type 2, as long as its diagnosed, no other major health concerns pop up, and in the (relatively) rare case of a severe reaction it gets managed well, you should have little to worry about.

that being said.... WRAP THAT SHIT!!! at least if its a fling, it aint worth it for a couple nights of fun times. but if its a long term relationship, fuck it, talk to your doctor, cuz your probably gonna get it eventually.

LoL. Sounds like every person I know with herpes: 'It's just a rash, maaaannnnn'.

Legally it's classified as a 'cosmetic', so since it's not life-threatening, they don't have to tell you. Thing is, they're establishing a life-long dependence on Valtrex with anyone they give it to. That stuff is expensive, probably not covered by most insurance, and there are times in people's lives when they might not be able to afford it.

I had an ex I used to pine for. She caught the herp and that was when I gave up on her. Never fuck up your dick for one person or group of people. Stay clean so you can slide free. That's my advice. Most herpes people have an obviously shady background anyway, so if you were a relatively innocent person, that alone would imply incompatibility.

Well its a diesease for life, yah u better tell the person youre with!

Come on lady, spreading that shit without telling.

Ive heard its illegal to lie to someone about not having aids/HIV when u know u have it, thus spreading it.

Herpes isnt life threatening but no one wants herpes, especially if they could avoid it.

^^^What he said.

Further on the medicine:  If she has already infected two others, she is actively shedding viri. You're next if you engage in sex.  Then what?  Now YOU'RE the one with herpes and the ethical dilemma that needs to be sorted out with YOUR future partner(s).

There is a decent chance that if infected, you will develop something known as post-herpetic neuralgia.  It's a quite painful, recurrent nerve pain...and, like herpes itself, impossible to cure.

My advice?  Do not bang that gal.  Not worth it.

I believe type 1 can also infect your genitals.

Incorrect. It's caused by a different form of the herpes virus (herpes zoster), as compared to the type we're discussing (herpes simplex).

Hella misinformation.

In my opinion.
If you aren't going to have a relationship with the girl.
It's not worth the risk and worry.

You can live a normal life with herpes.
But!
It is something your going to have to live with for the rest of your life.
Physically and mentally.

If you do decide to smash.
Just make sure you read up on the virus so you know what your dealing with and wear a condom.

Edit: always wear a condom.
