Orange panaeolus cyanescens?
    #25035185 -

I have been hunting Pan Cyans for over a year now. I often find mushrooms that appear just as Pan Cyans on the exterior, but their CAP, Gills and Stipe is 'Orange' in color. In the same habitat.

I haven't found them grow directly on dung but often near very very old dung that has almost powdered on the surface.

I never picked them because of their orange color and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed them and can tell if they are actives?

I find their size always smaller than pan cyans, and even till maturation when the caps flatten and the gills appear, they are orange. I once read an article about cultivating Pan Cyans that said that these species rare occur in orange color. If anyone wants to read about it they can google 'orange pan cyans' and from Images they'll find one that has a pan cyan with orange gills, leading to the article.

So should I pick them or not? Thanks!

Hard to tell without pictures but be aware that there are several dung-dwelling species of Conocybe.

They are often light brown to orange brown, and leave light- to rusty brown spore prints. Some of them might be toxic.

Would be nice if you got some pictures.  But as Anglerfish stated there are Conocybes that have orange gills that grow on and. Near dung.

I'd guess Conocybe, Bolbitius or Agrocybe., but as the others have said, pictures will help.
