Tampanensis Grow with Mycolorado * 20

TAMPANENSIS

Substrate (Dry Ingredients by Weight):

Hpoo 40%
Coir 40%
Straw 10%
Paper 10%
Hydrated to field capacity and sterilized

This project was started with spores from my previous tamp grow Mycolorado’s Tamp Fruit Project, and produced some crazy looking cultures:

One of the last cultures of the #1 line was moved to oat grains and then spawned to the above substrate blend hydrated to filed capacity.  I messed this up as I typically prep the mix a tad wet and let the mixture soak overnight but I rushed it and skipped that step resulting in a dry sub.  A 2# bag was noc’d with 1 qrt oat spawn on 12/11 and left to colonize for about four weeks.  It never really looked great but I broke it open and moved about half to a small tub.  I laid down a dusting of sand straight from the bag and soaked it till I could see the sub hydrating below as I wanted to get some water into it.  I then cased with pasteurized 1:1:.5 jiffy:fine verm:sand to a 1/4” depth and sprayed again.  I popped the top on and in about 10 days started to see some scattered pins.  At this point I placed the tub with the lid askew in the tent and maintained a high rh and temps between 75-77F with constant air movement.  As fruit came in the tub was sprayed with a fine mist around 3 times a day (my climate is DRY!).

These are all a day apart except the first two are 3 days apart starting on 1/16:

Grabbed a couple that were looking tall and ready to print:

Printing dark:

Once they finish up, I’ll get them printed and to the Marketplace.  Hope you enjoyed the grow!

Yeah, I’ve found there is a direct correlation between PDA/PDYA and getting tamps and othe mexicanae to pin on the plate making it easy to see which cultures are gonna be heavy pinners/good fruiters.

No, I believe stonesun or somebody was using jiffy cactus mix which is sandy and I couldn’t find it so I improvised.  It also allowed me the opportunity to test diff ratios to see what was best for my cultures. All in all, tamps were purportedly collected in sandy soil so that was a big indicator for me.  bw86 also used the dusting method on his Jalisco grow which is in my sig and is awesome.

Correct, stonesun.  It was a brand other than jiffy, but a cactus mix nevertheless.

in all my years, none of my tamp cultures have ever discolored like that. are you positive that is tamp myc? I've got tamp plates going now and not a single one of them is anything except pure white at all stages of growth. your plates look more like sporulating mold, but idk im no stone expert.

also, your repeated attempts to take cheap shots at me since I quit the tribe is rather transparent. i'm glad that my quitting bothered you so much that you still take time to make subtle passive aggressive insults towards me. it makes me feel really comfortable coming to this site, given your past. your behavior is toxic and the main source of negativity here. I hope the tribe members see how you use them as tools in your grudges.

And that as well.  Here are a couple side cups...they didn’t get enough air early on which is evident in the caps...they’re nicely formed but the diameter is half the size of those that came up in the tub.

Not sure how Myco did it, but I lay the prints on a sheet of foil, very lightly mist them, then cover the caps with a plastic water bottle cap that's been wiped thoroughly with an alcohol soaked paper towel.

I print them in a low tub in the tent.  I lay them in front of the hood and then move to the tent. Crack the tub for a few to make sure it’s humid inside and then close it up.

Epic thread and cultures <3 !

What I don't get though is paper in the substrate? I thought you'd want to put only edible substrate in there like grains, or is that instead to put only degradable materials in there (so obviously no verm etc, not that I have put verm in my substrate in the last 10 years..)
Paper is consumed quickly enough anyway unlike say wood chips or as long as you don't go trying to use a phonebook?

Of course, avoid printed paper as always.

I laughed at the fruits on agar, that's great man  the moldy looking one definitely freaked me out for a moment until the whole idea of sclerotia on agar dawned on me...

anyways this is inspiring

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but my maths brain is confused.

I'm looking to attempt Tamps, and looking for a substrate for my rye berries to infect.

Your numbers add up to 120%

Can you clarify please? If I were to do:
Hpoo 40%
Coir 40%
Straw 20%
Paper 20%
Hydrated to field capacity and sterilized

How do you think I would fare?

Typo...10% each on straw and paper.  Thanks for the catch! They’ll do fine on a variety of subs so you’d be fine as long as you provide optimal fruiting conditions, which is high FAE and rh.

So would a shoebox in and unmodified tub be good on RH but poor on FAE?

Prolly...they need the hi rh as the requisite FAE will dry them out.  Shoe box dub tubs seem to work well.  Maybe a shoe box in a modded mono to ensure they’re getting ample FAE.

How modded would be best? SGFC or a few big holes? I imagine a SGFC with the holes stuffed to retain humidity and a moisture reservoir like perlite or coir under the shoeboxes.

I would think the sgfc would work better but would just go dub tub as there are proven results on the forum.  If you have the sgfc on hand it wouldn’t hurt to try.  There have been a lot of spaghetti grows in modded monos.

Anyone have a link to a dubtub.

I am growing tamps from a print on agar. Should have clean T2 by this weekend.

A few quarts of rye berries sterilised in the fridge.

Martha should be completed this weekend.

This being the case, and this my first non-edible grow. Spawn to the mix above (OP) in a tray, colonised for a few weeks, case, then Martha?
