psychic abilities

I am faced with a decision and really don't want to make a mistake. Thus, the more input I can get the better decision making I usually do.

I have always felt from a very young age that I have some type of psychic ability. This was fun when I was young thinking I could be like I Dream of Jeanie or whatever, but as an adult I know of darker things in this universe that can take advantage of an unprepared soul.

I have been reading and searching these past few years about myself, and gaining introspection. Being a Pisces I read alot about that sign and am trying to gain more astrological insight. Psychic abilities and an emotional being continues to come up in my life. So... I was surfing at Amazon for some books on astrology, when BAM! this book about developing your own psychic abilties hits me. I start sweating, trembling and am incredibly excited, then I get a little scared. I am also a reformed Catholic.... guilt and fire and brimstone comes to mind. I don't want to open a door I can't close, but I don't want to ignore a greater calling. I want to become the person I am meant to be, which I continue to feel a drawing to the psychic world. Now I am not looking to become the next Sylvia Browne, but I do want to encourage my natural abilities. I believe we all have repressed sixth senses, and I think it is a shame that we let society tell us what is good and evil, however... what if.....

Anyway, I have talked with my closest friends about this, but wanted some objective opinions. Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks for the input, it pretty much goes along with what I am thinking.

This is the book I was going to start with, "Psychic Development for Beginners: An Easy Guide to Releasing and Developing Your Psychic Abilities "- William W. Hewitt

High Jenny! I meditate, just not in the traditional sense of sitting quietly. I actually have had incredible insights and cry/get emotional alot on the eliptical at the gym. That is what I decided to do tonight, so I got on there and listened to myself. I draped myself in goodness and strength. It helped to get my game plan of my goals of what I want from this experience and what I don't want.

This is just me, inexperienced and all, but imo, pisces are very intuitive people, and I have met a few pisces who were psychic.  I hate that.  :grin:  Especially when they are my friends.  I tend to give off energy, and they intuit it, and it's very difficult for  me to get away with anything.

Go for it!  If you are wise enough to question what you would do with the power once you found you had it, you will probably not be the type of person to abuse it.

And how cool to have such a gift, and exciting!  I don't have that type of gift.  As I said, I mostly just tend to provoke my environment with my own energy.

ALL people have some psychic abilities IMO.

If you buy into the religions, they dont want you to believe that you have them.

I'm siding with Swami here, as all of you should as well. It's one thing to look at astrology stuff for fun, but when you actually start believing it and making decisions based on it....that's just messed up. No offense, if you even had a tiny bit of psychic ability you would be able to influence people so much that you would be able to have great power with which you could do great good in the world. My verdict, you have no psychic ablities. Everyone wants to be important, everyone wants to feel that their life has some greater importance outside of day-to-day bullshit, but that doesn't make a delusion any more objectively real.

I disagree. There is the possibility that there are people who have "some" psychic ability, just not on the level to make T.V. news.  I can give examples.  :grin:  But not tonight.  I have to go home and go to bed.

A friend of mine told me what I did once, the morning after I had played pool. He described the guy who put his arm around me, what he looked like, etc. That's not made for T.V. Kind of dull, really. But I do believe that there is a certain amount of psychic ability in the world. Just not the extreme kind, like bending spoons.

Sounds like maybe your friend is stalking you hehe. :lol:  But seriously, if you feel that you or someone you know has some amount of psychic talent then by all means you should take them to get tested by some psychologist or something.  Or at least take 'The Swami Challenge', I hear there's a lot of money involved and more than a little pride....It's all too easy to say 'oh things like this can't be measured by science....lalala'  But until they are, they're just for fun and shouldn't be taken seriously.
