Philosopher stones project (Tampanensis and jalisco sclerotia) * 1
    #23870115 -

Hey everyone! Ive recently been reading and studying about sclerotia producing species. It shocked me that i never really heard of these or learned about them. So i decided to start a Sclerotia project. I usually stick to P. Cubensis but why not try my hand at something new.
For this project ill be using organic rye berries instead of WBS. Ive read that they love rye. Ill prepare my rye berries the exact same way i do my WBS, ill rinse it off and clean out the dirt and debris. Then ill add HALF strength coffee and gypsum to the water instead of normal strength coffee. Ill let that mixture soak for 24 hours. Then ill bring to a boil for 10 to 15 min, pour in strainer then let the steam dry the outsides. Load up my jars and pc for 90 min at 15 psi.
Im going to keep the jars on a shelf for about 6 months, then ill harvest the fruits of my labor. Ill be adding pics to this thread as soon as it shows. Ive heard its a slow colonizer so well see how slow. Stay tuned

Mines just MS to grain. People always say dont do that but my techniques are sterile and my vendor doesent give me bunk syringes. I dont have the time or space for agar so MS is my choice. Never had a grain contam so far.

Knock on wood...even with agar sometimes I still get contams...sometime the naked eye don't see em and they slip into a grain jar...

Do sclerotia producing jars benefit from indirect light on a shelf or can they just be put in a drawer?

I gotcha. I guess a good test would be to keep 6 in the dark and 6 on a shelf to compare results butim using MS so it wouldnt be consistent.

It seems every species which gets indirect sunlight grows quicker. I'd bet that's what you'll see if you do a comparison.

What a coincidence I just started my own PS. Tampanensis thread!!!

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23890223

P.S. Im not trying to hijack your thread, we just have alot in common with our projects brother!! Good luck my friend!!!

I was recently told by Pasty, its senseless to leave the jars for 6 months to colonize, then harvest stones and spawn. He said to spawn the jars at full colonization and that they will produce both simultaneously...effectively shaving 6 months off of the project!

Youre good man and im not spawning. Im just doing it for the sclerotia. Thats why im leaving it in the jars. Stone sun said you can harvest at 2 months but 6 months will be the most potent. And hes the dude that created the sclerotia growing guide.

Thats what i read but i didnt know if that included sclerotia. I might keep the drawer cracked so it gets indirect light everyday. Can only help seems like.
