I decided to do a little expierement with these jars. I took 1 jar from each batch and shook them. When i harvest the stones. Ill compare the weight of the shooken versus the non shooken jars.

If stones haven't formed yet the shake can't hurt.

Okay so this is where im at to the date. I have 12 total Tampenensis jars and now 6 Jalisco jars. The jalisco jars were inoculated 3 days ago so no growth yet. They were inoculated with MS. 6 of the tamp. Jars are 100% colonized (the shaken ones) and the other 6 tamp.jars are about 50% colonized (unshooken) but 1 of the 2nd group of 6 i shook and its 100% colonized. No sclerotia growth yet but its been pretty cold. Will update pics soon. Next few days.

Yeah, only seeing one stone in a tamp jar and it's very small and seems to maybe be stalling, and not seeing anything in the CN jars.  I definitely think I prepped my jars a tad dry which could be a contributing factor.  Just gonna fruit them and prep wetter jars for another go.

I inoculated 5 tamp WBS jars with LI made from an agar culture on 12/20, they hit full colonization about 7 days later, and just this morning I'm finally starting to see hints of sclerotia formation. Reading around, it seems tamps can take much longer to start forming stones than other varieties  In interesting contrast, last year I did some PF cakes with tamp MS and they started forming stones well before they hit 100% colonization. No idea why the difference in stone formation rates.

Good luck with the shaken jars. I had 5 tamp WBS jars that I inoculated in October with an agar tiger drop 2.0. It took them about 2 weeks to hit 45%, and I shook all but one to speed up colonization  Not a single stone by the beginning of January in the jars I shook. The one jar I didn't shake did form some stones, but I had issues with it drying out and they stalled out pretty small.

Sounds like youve been doin work lol but my unshaken jars havent stalled yet. Theyre just taking forever to colonize the whole jar. Its been under 2 months so i still got a long ways to go. I see some sclerotia forming but im sure thatll change in a few weeks. I also heard sclerotia doesent really like wbs, they love rye. And i just followed RRs rye video and used half strength coffee in the 24hr. Soak. I dont need to worry about jar moisture since i prepped them that way

If you want to up your game, I'd go MS->agar->LI. Agar is simple af. It's vegan jello that you PC and then put a drop of MS solution onto in an SAB. Then you cut out a chunk of healthy growth and transfer it to a new plate until you have a beautiful, happy, healthy, clean culture ready to munch down your sub :awesanta:

My tamp plates almost always pin in vitro, so I often go MS->agar->in-vitro pin->agar->LI. I'm aware WBS isn't a favorite, but I've seen grows where it's successful, and it's what I have available right down the street vs the hour drive to the nearest feed store  I've tried correcting my moisture issues, plus with a clean agar culture to LI it just rips right through the substrate. Less time and moisture lost to waiting for full colonization. Hopefully it works out this time. Good luck on your grow

If i had the space i would definetly do agar but at the moment i cant. I wouldnt do LCs but as of right now MS works good for me. People always say theres such a high contam risk going straight to grain but i have yet to see all these contaminations lol ive only had 1 grain contamination and it was after i spawned. It was bc i gave tyvek envolopes a try and i found out tyvek envolopes suck. Theyre too pourous. But thanks man ill keep this thread updayed
