Oh and automan, how is it the cased cup gets enough oxygen to fruit if you're just leaving the bag on? Does it take longer to fruit due to this factor?

nope, it actually works pretty fast. it does get enough oxygen. it replenishes the oxygen everythime you pick, too.

I haven't seen any pictures posted. So here you go for the people who wanna know what it should look like. I'm assuming this is about right. With few exceptions, like the cups transparency.

come on people, fresh air? this all has to do with osmosis.
it's diffusion of gasses through a selectively permeable membrane (plastic baggie) and say that the percent of oxygen in the baggie is at 2% and oxygen outside the baggie is 20%. it is common sinse that the oxygen outside the baggie will try to balance out and put air in. of coarse you are saying that it is a baggie and air can't go through. but think about a rotton veggitable you put in a baggie, it has some gasous exchange, maybe small amounts but it's still there. this baggie will decrease chances of contams becasue obviously bacteria is much larger theair molucules.

Cheapest grow tek. All I payed for was the perlite verm and flour. And print of course.

popcorn seems to be a hit or miss type of substrate. but this is just a casing that doesnt need a terrarium, so..... it would work as well as a regular casing would.

Popcorn in cakes seems to be a hit or miss type substrate, but it's definitely no hit or miss when you're talking straight grains. DEFINITELY not a hit or miss. It's a hit, all the way.

Could you use half of a 1/2 pint brf/verm for this instead of a full 1/2 pint and still get decent results? How much verm should you cover the crumbled cake at the bottom of the cup with?

Also, just wanted to tell everyone that Saran's Quick Covers could possibly be a substitute for the rubber bands and platic baggies.

i recommend using the full 1/2 pint per cup. you need the depth.
