I am a universal donor and I have no STD's as of my last check, but because i am a chick with a dick, they would compel me to check the "I am a man who has sex with men" on their form. Even though I am not a man, and even if I didn't have sex with men at all, they would still make me check that box and thereby disqualify myself.

It's a dumb system.

Part of me just feels sociopaths are attracted to politics/law as a career. Doesn't mean all politicians are sociopaths nor the lawyers, but that's a whole different thread.

One of our candidates for president is just "odd" in general career wise too. Not talking about the man with the little "hands" either. It's not like her husband helped the cia get a lot of cocaine into Arkansas during his time as governor or anything.....

And as soon as you can come up with a more intelligent post than "poop". Otherwise go back to watching mtv or the bachelor princess.

Nice assumptions you have there on me. I'm not going entertain your conspiracy rhetoric, this subject imo isn't worth my time nor is this the thread to discuss such things. Like I said take it to your forum.

as an update, there are real people here that are missing as a result. There was a mom on TV looking for her son earlier. It was latin night at Pulse, so a lot of the hispanic community is affected. even straight people go to the club sometimes, it's not just a gay club. Parliament House is the overtly gay club, really.

there's been some sketchy videos, like the snapchat of the girl who supposedly got shot, you would have to actually send the snap for someone to save it, and i doubt after being shot the first thing on your mind is "man i gotta send this snap before i bleed out"


This whole situation is fucked up, but it's nice that everyone is opting to donate blood in my area, the blood banks are over flowing with donors right now. I hope to donate some blood soon, i'm getting over being sick and have tons of shit on my plate, but when i dont have to make a reservation i will.

Yeah that makes perfect sense the government would stage tons of mass shootings when absolutely nothing happens or changes as a result of them. Except it drives the sale of guns up...maybe the NRA and gun industry staged these to drive sales. :rolleyes:

I agree that not allowing gay men to donate is a backwards bullshit thing.  They did it back in the day to dissuade gay men from using blood donation to get a free AIDS test and the whole 6 months for HIV to show up, but its not even a thing anymore really.  They can tell in 10 minutes or less.

Really, I don't even care if my blood makes it to Orlando.  I just hope they can use it to help someone.

I had heard that they had temporarily lifted the ban at one point, but maybe that was just Orlando and before everyone came out en masse to donate.

thanks for the update and good post...like another reason why this hits so close to home for me. A large portion of my family lives in that part of Florida. Being both part of the Hispanic and the lgbtq community, having family down there. It's just too much so that's why I'm continuing to post in this thread cause I need somewhere where I can just vent about this with friends. So many here don't understand what this means for us. One of our safe havens was attacked, specifically targeted. Its bad enough so many of us live in fear everyday for just being who we are in the south. Now we have to be on guard 10x more than we were before. This does however bring us closer together than ever before thus strengthening our resolve and love.

Maybe, just maybe all of those people who support anti-lgbtq legislation and rhetoric will stop for a moment and hopefully rethink their stances. The commissioner of Orlando gave this short interview on cnn that brought me to tears yesterday. She said exactly what I was feeling. Its like she reached into the depths of our community's soul and relayed what we are all feeling so eloquently. I'm so happy a person like her is in government. We need more folks like her that get it.

I would looooooove to hear the FBI's explanations for why this dude was able to get away with what he did. And not some BS explanation like "assault weapons", the explanation of why some fucker they were keeping tabs on for a while was able to do what he did.

I guess right wingers and veterans are a bigger terrorist threat than someone who is already on a watch list or multiple.

I didn't read this whole thread but I live pretty close to Orlando. A friend of mine has a cousin that died in the attack. I'm going to visit Orlando this weekend though and donate blood. This shit is so sad :sad:
