Seeing Jesus or the Virgin Mary
    #2317225 - 02/09/04 11:30 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

People sometimes describe their visions as of seeing a divine historial figure such as Jesus. I really don't get that. I could not pick the guy out of two people. No one knows what he looked like. Same with the VM.

If what they saw was a blinding white light, well how can they tell who / what it is? Did the light have a beard?

Also notice that no devout Muslim sees Jesus in an NDE or ecstatic state.

All sounds like mind projection to me.

That's because those heathens are all going to burn in hell.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

our brains are wired to see faces. an evolutionary gift, if you will. thats why when one stares at some patterns or clouds etc... one seems to see faces. yes, its mind projection, like the blot tests used by pycologists

People belive what they see. Or do they see what they belive? Miracles are everyday natural events.

People see what they want so see. How do you expain people who find liknesses of Elvis in a gravey stain on a shirt? Looks like gravey to me, looks like Elvis to some, looks like Al Gore to others.

One time I saw Conan O'Brien in bird dropping on my friends pond dock. He can verify this.

Jesus aspect is irrelevant. He can only be felt in essence and not in flesh and bones. Remember that when he was here for the last time, he wasn't what people expected either.

Sometimes I have this crazy vision. I'll be surfing around here and sometimes I'll see a picture of Jesus. I treat it as a holy experience, especially since it is always in association with my words... it is obviously a sign that my words are inspired by the presence of God.

I was just thinking about this, though, and was considering making a post... more about archetypes, however. I was once given a book, I'm not sure what the occasion was, but it dealt with the visions of saints. It went into depth about the saints and how you can evoke them for various needs..... apparently it is really relevant to the Roman Catholics.

And, in true ironic fashion, the Simpsons episode I watched today had visions of saints. On a side note, anytime I'm thinking of something from the Simpsons, the next day I will pick an episode at random and it always ends up being that one.... a very subconscious thing, I guess.

At any rate, to sort of bring this more on-topic, I believe it is an issue of archetypes. Native Americans get visions of power animals, Catholics get visions of saints, people in Europe get visions of elves and dwarfs, etc....

Its like, well, I'm about to die, so according to the programming of my brain, my idea of some holy power is suspossed to appear... "If Christian, then Jesus, if American, then George Bush"... so on and so forth.
Peace.

Native Americans get visions of power animals...

That is different as they know what an eagle or wolf looks like. For the record, my "power animal" is a lizard - no joke. Oops, not sure if I was supposed to reveal that or not.

Actually went to a three-day Lynn Andrews seminar. Now many Natives may puke when I mention her (she is the rich, white Beverly Hills 80s / 90s female equivalent of Carlos Castaneda who cashed in BIG in the NA shamanistic revival movement), but I had some female friends into her and she was "playing" near-by and I had just read some of her books and being the gullible dolt I am, I had to go. Drumming, chanting, ceremony and lots and lots of babes (over 90%)!

One of my "sisters" published a Newsletter for our group of 10 for years called the "Eagle's Nest". Naturally, I had to "initiate" each of my nine "power sisters" in turn, but I digress...

Ja, I know, it wasn't on that point of yours, the thing about seeing Jesus and knowing it was him when you'd have no clue, but that it is really just an archetype fufilling a purpose... it could be a clown that appears, or whatever.. its all in the mind.
Peace.

They also seemed to think that the whites deserved it. I agree.

Sincere seekers "deserve" to get scammed? That is a most disappointing attitude.  :shake:
