Crack in the Cosmic Egg
    #2281458 -

This was a cool mind-candy book written back in the '70s. Could probably get a copy at your local library. (Note: I have not read this book in over 30 years, so bear with me.)

The author postulates in a novel way that we "create the world". This is not a new idea, but was then and was presented in an unusual way. He talked quite a bit about technology and used TV as an example. He said that no human could prove it was not ALL MINDSTUFF as the only way we can measure or receive UHF and VHF signals is with equipment that we created to both transmit and receive the waves. So in essence, he is saying that the early pioneers believed, then set out creating equipment to prove their belief. Not as in setting a goal and overcoming obstacles, but as in creating physics (rather than discovering) as we go.

In a similar fashion, he has predicted that because we WANT the ability to go faster-than-light, then some brilliant mathematician would prove that it was possible thus enabling us to overcome the belief about the speed limit. Then we could actually develop warp drive. Science fiction also aids us in this paradigm
shift.

Can't say I believe this as the stars existed long before us and seemed to be obeying fixed rules without human input.

This concept occured to me a while back. I was driving in my car-car, and I was thinking about the way the engine worked with the principles of electromagnetism. It just seems a little fishy. But I think mechanical engineering is easier to validate than radio waves.

Of course, this idea could be easily disproved. Someone just has to invent something before they think of it.

I'll have to look for that book.

we are limited by what we think of the world very much so. Regardless of the abilties that may lie before us, we still think the way we do. Those abilties could be POTENTIALS, but in order to reach our potential, we must be capable... right?

is this what you are talking about?

it's one of those untestable theories...

did Einstein create E=mc^2, or did he discover it?
is there a difference?

chicken or the egg?...

Crack In The Egg by GWAR!!!!
The egg was spawned in our mutation pit
In the bowels of your
Earth it was grown
Feeding on the blood of you loinspawn
And all the filthy load that was blown
Now the time is right for birth
And whatever it is shall stalk the Earth
What it looks like, I care not I just hope it kills a lot
Crack in the egg
Crack in the egg
The time is right
Crack in my pipe
Parasitical scum, you die so easily
But you always have sickened me
Your will enslaved, you grovel for more
Soon your bowels will litter the floor
Cannibalistic depravity
Bereft of all humanity
A fitting feast of abject insanity
A dark curtain before last calamity
There is but one way to give the egg life
Murder the innocent souls
Their fluids project as their nipples are flayed
Their skulls are fashioned into bowels
You masses of humans are gagging in glee
Now you gape but soon you'll be here with me
If you're really lucky
I'll vomit on thee
I'll shit in your stump and then bathe you in pee
Sunder your forms with my withering hacks
Mash up your face with my gauntleted smacks
Now bring me dead babies let their be no lack
I got a bunch of them here in my sack
I slaughtered your daughters,
I mangled your sons
If we kill enough of them the Gor-Gor will come
The end of your race,
we approach the hour Gor-Gor will get a blood-red baby shower
We bathe him in death to celebrate life I'll be the doctor and
Beef the midwife
But it takes so long, how can I cut slack
Shoot that fucker up with some crack Gor-Gor see him now inside the egg
Please come out, Gor-Gor of you I beg Will he be a happy child?
Maybe Most likely he'll be a crack-baby
We infected his being with evil drugs
So he would grow up and be a thug
Destroy the planet, the world he will mug
The human race will die and we will just shrug

Something else I thought of...

If I decline to acknowledge certain things, then they do not matter and cease to exist. As a teenager with no financial assets, I can ignore the economy and it ceases to exist. If I don't pay attention to the Dow Jones or read the Wall Street Journal, I am outside the realm of economy. It will have no measurable effect on me save I might pay 10 cents more for a gallon of gas. Or consider the state of Kansas in which I reside. If I abandon my life to live in the forests, hunting food and sleeping on the ground, then there is no Kansas. There is no America. I stop talking and using words, I lose the ability to speak and then there are no words. My thoughts become visual and are comprised of dynamic concepts. My scope of the world is hampered and many things do not exist anymore.

The day will come when, after harnessing the ether, the winds, the tides, gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And, on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.  -Teilard

I'm just exercising my implied right to post zany things that have nothing to do with the true topic in one of SWAMI's threads.  Implied that is, by SWAMI's behavior in other threads
