I ran across this quote in a Tom Clancy book:

And I wondered what your thoughts might be on the subject.  On the one hand, Israel is made up of an upstanding, educated middle class that is, as the quote says, not particularly religious, and of course Jewish people have a reputation for being very smart which I have found in fact to be accurate, so I think we can agree the Israeli citizen is a worthy individual.  On the other hand, at least Netanyahu's administration is getting farther and father from a peace plan with the Palestinians, and it's not a fair fight.  For such a bright people, Israelis are quite prejudiced and bellicose when it comes to their Arab neighbors.

What are your thoughts about the Zionist State in general?  And do you feel it was a worthwhile endeavor, or just a really stupid idea, to establish a Jewish state in Palestine?  I look forward to your replies.

The way they went about doing it was fucked up, they uprooted 700,000 Palestinians who were currently living there and basically took shit over through strategic smuggling and infrastructure control.

there are several factors here

one is history
both World War II and the Middle East history
another is prejudice
and another is the nature of human behavior once conflict commences
and then there are the neighboring countries and their politics
and then there is the nuclear situation
then there is the oil situation
with its Saudi USA interests and deals
Syria and Russia
US support of Mubarack before his ouster
the war in Yemmen
the fear that decades of Arab suicide bombings must have created in a country about the size of New Jersey

that's around 10 factors off the top of my head
there are probably more

I don't expect any solutions

Jews are smarter because historically only the rich had the money to have children, and the rich were generally rich because their family lines were capable.

And this applies only to Jews?

Anyway, yes, Jews are smart, generally speaking, and, let's face it, we don't havy any idea why. Life is full of little mysteries--in fact, come to think of it, that is what life is: A big bag full of nothing but little mysteries.
