hydrogen peroxide question
    #2230412 - 01/09/04 04:24 AM (20 years, 2 months ago)

So I was wondering if anyone here knew how to use hydrogen peroxide to bleach your hair ... I really need to strip the shitty faded copper color from my hair ... I have an industrial sized bottle of hydrogen peroxide so I'm sure I have enough to do my mohawk ... I'm sure someone here can help ... maybe I can awake to the shroomery and an answer ... Thanks in advance folks

im pretty sure u just put it in your hair and wait like any hair dye.. you can change how strongly it looks by drying your hair with a blow drier while its on it.. take it out when the color looks like you want it to..

dont put too much cause if u do it will prob look almost white

Also your hair will fall out ifyou leave it on too long. Try goig to the store and using a bleaching agent. MUCH safer...

yeah - dont be cheap. go buy a kit and some decent vitamin treatment as well as some shampoo/condition for damaged hair - otherwise your hair will be totally fried and break often and look like shit.

what, pray tell, do you think they are using? H2O2 of course! granted they've worked out optimal concentrations and prolly added vitamins and enrichers but i'd bet a cursory read of the ingredients puts you in a position to go homebrew.

edit: oh, yeah, UV light catalyses the bleaching, so go lay out by the pool after applying h202

nope - those vitamins and activators and optimized ingredients etc. are what help prevent your hair from turning into brittle nasty hair.

that translates to go read the ingredients list so you know what to add to make your own bleach so you don't pay the exorbitant (sometimes) prices (considering it is h202 and hair, skin&nails mixed)

a bleaching kit usually costs $8 US.

I'm guessing the original poster wouldnt have the first clue on how to mix up a bunch of activator, vitamins, and proteins in the proper concentrations/amounts considering the fact that he didnt know how to use H202 to highlight his hair in the first place.

sure, you might save a dollar or two mixing a "homebrew" but would it be worth if it you end up looking like a chiapet and everytime you touch your hair the strands break off?

My advise is to spend a few dollars and go to a professional.

Go to Sally's Beauty Supply. and ASK! hehe seriously. I've died more heads of hair then I care to remember. I seem to want a new color every month. Its cheap. all you need is the Hydrogen Peroxide and the devoloper. Its like $8 for enough to do 2 people. simple just mix one into the other. Unless your hair is prone to falling out you should be fine. I have left bleach in for over an hour and a half with no adverse effects. Well none that a couple showers and conditioner couldn't fix. Beware its addicting being able to change hair color at will.
