Also, I don't have a siphon.. Can I just prop it up so the carb is higher than the tank?

Before you do anything, see that flat yellow tab attached the that bent rod? Wiggle it. If it moves freely, have someone push it in a little. That is the throttle. Maybe the governor is stuck or missing a spring. When you start the engine, push it in a little and see if you can control the engine manually.

Maybe get a new spark plug and throw it in anyway. Basically give it a tune up while you're at it.

I had that same model crap out on me last season, broke the pull start. Said fuck it and bought a new mower. I still have the old one sittin in my shed.

Anyone mention checking the jet yet?


Should be something similar to that. Check to make sure the holes aren't clogged.

Not sure if this has been addressed but take off your flywheel cover and clean your contacts on your coil and re gap your coil using a business card. Usually bolted on with on of the bolts on the coil is a piece of plastic that is attached to a spring this controls your idle based off the draft coming from your flywheel. Make sure the piece of plastic is conected to the spring and moving freely. Also check your compression make sure your rings arent bad also clean carb, air filter, and spark plug(sure those have been addressed).

Now it won't even run for a little bit after it starts.. Prime it, pull the cord and it'll run for like 1 second.
Pulled the plug, gonna replace that. Looks like it may have gotten wet.

Put some seafoam in awhile ago, so hopefully that's working, but I'm hoping I didn't put too much in and make the fuel not work at all.

Should be. I'm just going by memory from all the shit I've done in the past to get a damn small engine to work again. I remember cleaning that thing out and thinking I solved the problem only for it to still be there. :mad2:

Also your plug looks kinda oil fouled. If it is oil fouled, you've got a whole new problem.

personally I wouldn't bother replacing that spark plug, I can't see if the other side is cracked but if its not it looks good enough, just resize the gap according to the manuel and clean it up a bit. id at least check the throttle/gov first

based on how dirty that carb is I would venture to guess you have a small gas leak possibly, something to keep an eye on after you fill the tank back up.  might be leaking from the gas line, or the primer bulb.  I remember hearing on weed eaters if the primer bulb fails/leaks then they won't start.

did you play with the throttle and Governor yet?

you engine is different than mine, looks like yours is meant to adjust its throttle itself.  anyways its that yellow tab with the rod going to it, turn the tab while starting/trying to run it.

then way behind that is a spring, that most likely goes to the Governor


and mostly non related but whats your oil look like while your at it?

also my guess for why it won't run now is you emptied all the fuel out of the carb, might take more than 3 pumps to get her going again.  you can also put a little gas in the spark plug hole to get her started once

Shroomslip, that was clean, as was the inside of the carb (so far as I was able to tell)

The oil is low and in need of replacement, which I'll do of i can get it going again.. Not low enough for concern, but yeah..

The throttle moves freely and will rev when fucked with when it does run.

I have not played with the governor.. to be honest, I don't know how to.

once you rule out the carb ( you still don't really know about the jets), then the next easiest thing to check is the fuel line/filter, empty your tank then pull the hose off both ends.  the one on the tank will have the filter in it.  id just take the whole hose and run the garden hose through it and let it dry a bit.

then when you put it back together, me personally id put some hose clamps on it, im not sure why it doesn't have them, maybe the hoses are designed to fit really tight or something on that model:shrug: but it really looked like it was leaking ontop the carb

If I come up with some other ideas that I've looked at in the past I'll post 'em but really, small engines are far more confusing to me than car engines. I have never been able to fix one.
