Does Patlal's pic clean the carb or just for gas quality?

just use seafoam lol its under 10 bucks and you can get it at walmart. if you're gonna put something in your gas to fix it, seafoam is the one to use. it does a ton of added stuff.

The gas in it is fine.. I mow fairly often....it was low when I tried initially, so I went and got more gas just now and filled it up.. So I don't think the gas quality is the issue...

I have old seafoam at work, does that shit expire?

yep, it'll prevent problems in teh future if you use it reguarly. Not sayin patial is lying or whatever, but it is intended to be used to keep gas from going bad and gumming up carbs, not cleaning them. Seafoam or something similar would work better for what you want

If it was the plug or stator 99% chance it wouldn't start at all
if it was compression it wouldn't start at all
you know it's getting air

That pretty much leaves the cam chain jumping a tooth, which is very unlikely, an intake air leak, also unlikely, or a gummed up carb, which is very common

If you don't wanna spend like 8 bucks on a can of seafoam you can get berryman's chemtool B12. It's supposed to be stronger better as a fuel additive and is like 4 bucks a can

You just need to get it in the carb so it can do its thing, shouldn't take long. Best way would be to add it to the gas then drain the carb so the old gas runs out and and the gas in the gas with seafoam in the tank goes in. There should be a bolt in the bottom of the float bowl you can remove and it will drain all the gas. If it's hard to get to you can just add it to the gas, and start the engine multiple times times so that it uses up the oldgas in the carb. That might take a while though if it only runs for a second.

But once it's in the carb it shouldn't take long. Might not hurt to let it sit for half an hour or so.

pull the carb bowl off and clean it, its part of the maintence your supposed to do, no need for seafoam yet, your shit isn't even running long enough for it to do hardly anything.  You prolly have a bunch of gunk in the carb bowl, soon as the thing starts it sucks the pieces up and plugs your jet.

I tried that with mine. It didn't solve the issue. The motor only kept going as long as I was feeding it carb cleaner. Then it choked the minute I stop spraying

I think it's reccomended use is around an ounce a gallon. I'd honestly just pour a a bit in, too much won't hurt anything if you use up the tank of gas in the next week or so. Or you could just drain it if your not. Only thing too much might hurt is seals in the carb, but it would have to sit for a while to do that

or just do what makaveli said, that's the best way to do it and isnt hard at all

I was at auto zone when I saw that... I put the seafoam back on the shelf and left.. If I can do it and save myself $13, I will (money is tight these days).. I'll do the seafoam if the carb cleaning doesn't work.

I'll have to figure the motor out.. Never worked on a lawnmower before.

OK..
Would acetone work (and q-tips), or does it need to be a spray?

yeah acetone will work

Spray would be better since you can blow out the jets though. When you get it apart unscrew the jets and hold them up to the light an look through them to see if there is any blockage
