If you want to show that aspartame and fluoride are dangerous, you need to consider the concentrations they are used at. Aspartame is three hundred times sweeter than sugar; this means you only need 1/300th the amount, which is tiny. At that concentration, the amount of methanol (wood alcohol) that could be released from aspartame - and it hasn't been proven that it can be released at all - is less than the amount found in a glass of orange juice.

You should be speaking out about the dangers of orange juice. It's got methanol in it, and even worse, fructose - the very same stuff that's in high-fructose corn syrup!

Water is fluoridated to a concentration of 1ppm. That's far lower than the concentration needed to cause fluorosis and other adverse effects. Do you think the Nazis poisoned people with 1ppm fluoride water? Because I'm pretty sure there are better methods.

And I'm with the others. I don't accept youtube videos.

1ppm isn't the scary part of it until you think about how much you actually consume. You drink it, cook with it, bathe/shower in it, inhale the steam in your shower, rinse your veggies, fruits, whatever else you do with it, etc... These are daily things that none of us can avoid and 1ppm doesn't seem like much until you take these into consideration. Also, it's a constant in our lives, slowly building up over years and years. So 1ppm isn't bad, unless that 1ppm is basically throughout your whole day. If they came out tomorrow and said "Mercury is the best at preventing cancer. We will start amalgamating water with 1ppm of mercury." Now 1ppm isn't so bad, right? However, when you consider how much that water is actually ingested and how much the totals can accumulate over time, it's really bad.

There isn't anything wrong with videos either. You have to pick and choose, obviously, but just because it's on YouTube or Google it shouldn't be dismissed before giving it a chance. That's just being plain stubborn.

zouden: Interesting factoid about orange juice and methanol. I didn't know that. About the high-fructose corn syrup. Personally I think that's why we're all FAT in this country... They say on the commercial "It's fine in moderation", but I don't think people realize how many products that stuff is in! Read the labels next time you shop, that shit is EVERYWHERE! It's even in bread for fuck's sake!! I can't even find a brand of tomato soup that DOESN'T have it. :frown:

And aluminum, don't even get me started on that one. Anti-caking agent my ass.

The Aspartame answers, I'm working on. I'm trying to be careful of what I post!

But there's an important difference: mercury is a heavy metal, so it accumulates. Fluoride does not.

Also, in many parts of the world, water is naturally fluoridated at concentrations much higher than 1ppm. It's a mineral, after all, so it's always present in groundwater to some extent.

Fluoride does accumulate. Especially in bones and teeth...

Which you can't get rid of btw, except for maybe, maybe, colloidal gold.
Don't quote me on that though.

In the soft tissues I think you can get rid of it by increasing calcium intake.

Theres also speculation going around about autism being caused by mercury exposure. I was diagnosed with high functioning autism last year. Maybe I should lay off the mercury for a while :crazy2:.

Your entire post was just "it is bad"


If you want to show that, i.e., fluoridated water is bad, then demonstrate that it actually causes problems or at least provide speculative evidence demonstrating that- i.e. that that type of exposure is probably harmful.


You've just made naked appeals to facts you've not demonstrated, i.e. that 1ppm fluoride is too much considering the average water intake.  Is it?  Is 1ppm normal fluoridation levels and is this bad, i.e. can you demonstrate harm? 


What are you claming the effects are from whatever specific exposure you disagree with, and what evidence do you have showing such relevant to the exposure you disagree with?

That's my proof. There are only tens of thousands of doctors and more specifically toxicologists that state how toxic it really is.

Autism is definitely on the rise. My country Ireland seems to have an unusually high rate of it. I have no idea why but thats what my psychiatrist told me. I don't doubt it though because 1 of my friends has high functioning autism/aspergers like me but I know 3 profoundly autistic kids who can hardly even speak.

You don't need to work in a lab to demonstrate a scientific fact, when we have the internet :smile:
