Pickled Mushrooms

I was wondering if you could preserve cubenesis mushrooms in vinigar or if the vinigar would break down the active ingredients and/or if it would all go into the vinigar and then you'de have to drink the vinigar to get the effects. Pickled mushrooms are so tastey ^^

ew thats sick but i would say it would either be in the juice or still in the shroom theres no where it can go its its trapped in a jar...

it would most defentaly go into the vinegar it's an acidic water solution (the best thing to disslove psilocybin in) I think it would ferment and get bad pretty quick, it would be the equlivent of making tea and leaving it out in room temp, use honey or make tea and freeze it.

i don't see why it would go bad, i mean, it's still a mushroom and mushrooms can be pickled..  anything can be pickled.  the vinegar might absorb the psilcybin tho, and that'd be unpleasant to try and drink :tongue: eck

I dunno, they taste like store bought shrooms with some tingly aftertaste...that'de be sick though to drink the vinigar if it didn't stay in the mushrooms :frown:

Anyways, i'm not trying to hide the taste with vinigar, just wondered if it was a good preserving method, I guess it's not that great : /

yeah you would have to be a genius to think covering up shroom taste with vinegar is a good idea, I knew what you were getting at, I've never done it but I can almost guarantee it would ferment and go horribly bad in a week or two, honey will preserve it for a long time AND it taste good!

heh... as many times as I mentioned honey you would think I own stock in it :tongue:

I think the best way to preserve would be just cracker dry in the fridge though. I guess you were looking for a more intersting approach though :smile:

Honey is hopeless... It doesnt stop oxidisation.
Dried mushrooms - snap dried with cc is the best imo. - providing the mushroom isnt damaged significantly, it will keep much of its potency - woodlovers and semilanceata in particular maintain potency dried, cubensis, and panaeolus cyanescens binomials less so, but they will fair better snap dried than they will in honey...
In honey oxidisation will continue, the fruit body remains moist. Freezing invariably causes greater oxidisation and enzyme reactions...
