wtf is happening to the standard of parenting and raising kids in this country??

This is a rant, cuz I just a kid on a leash with a fucking giant frappuccino and it reminded me how much I hate some people.

I don't know much about raising kids, but holy fuck, I'm just appalled at what is considered "acceptable"(i.e. not abuse/neglect) parenting. Kids are getting suspended, or even expelled in elementary schools for running around with imaginary guns and "shooting" each other, parents are getting charged with NEGLECT for letting their kids play on their block or even in their own yard, and now everything seems to be one giant echo chamber where everyone is a special snowflake, and no one loses.

How in the fuck is this going to produce a person who is independent and capable of coping with the real world?


Child obesity is fucking skyrocketing, kids are fed absolutely crap, tons of sugar, told to sit down and focus at school, and when they bounce off the walls they end up medicated with some bullshit ADHD diagnosis. I don't know many people with kids, the ones who do have them seem to genuinely care about their health and their child, and I don't spend much time around kids so I'm not often exposed to this shit. But more and more, I've been noticing these terrible choices - people in front of me ordering huge ass frappuccinos for their fucking 10 year old at starbucks, a 4 year old at the doctors office, literally losing his mind running around and standing on tables, slurping down a huge slushie (that I later googled and found was approximately 500 calories), while his mom chit chatted away and some poor random guy tried to keep the kid from hurting himself until his mom returns and shoves an ipad at him.

I was born in the early '90's, not that long ago, but it feels like a whole different world - kids played outside, we rode bikes down trails and bike paths nearby, we stayed out after dark and played manhunt together until our moms called us home.

Since the early '90's, the murder rate has dropped to half, we know so much more and all this knowledge at the tips of our fingers and even carry it with us with our phones, and yet, so many children are robbed(k, dramatic wording, but definitely shorted or ripped off in a way) of an active, healthy childhood, of healthy food, and of  a quality education that's been degraded in a failed, ineffective effort to raise testscores.

Kids on a leash... It is the new standard apparently. Weird too.

On another note. I saw a dog with balls today. It completely blew my mind. I haven't seen that in like 15 years.

It's definitely par for the course in some areas, walmart, usually.

I used to see a whole train of kids tied to a leash walking by my house in north philly, but to be fair I think it was two women running a daycare in the neighborhood trying to safely usher a bunch of kids safely past the crack dealers and homeless people, so I can't really fault them, but it was weird to see.

If the schools are bad in your area you have to home school or get them out of public school. Kids do seem fatter now, but I don't know if they actually are. I remember having fat kids in all my classes. I think as you get older things seem to get worse and worse, but they really aren't much different than the recent past. I remember all the adults saying kids are turning into shitheads when I was younger, now we do it. They were probably saying same thing 500 years ago.

Unfortunately this is the state of schools in my area are in total crisis, they've shut down a shit ton of them(like 37..this is one school district btw, i'm in a large city), their funding is short by approx. 400 million dollars.

...guess what they just built that costed approx. 400 million dollars?


a prison. go fucking figure. we're gonna need it to house this future generation of kids that the system has utterly, and completely failed.

i think they still got it pretty good for the most part. these kids got all the knowledge within their little hands(internet). we're gonna be breeding geniuses pretty soon u'll see. or kardashians if all fails..

either way, i think kids will have plenty of time to grow up and experience the real world. might as well enjoy their youth and safety while they;re at it i guess..

btw did u know starwberry pop tarts are 400 calories??

i ate like 10 packets during the span of 2 days a few days ago.. i am addicted..
