The lethal dose for mice is 185 mg/kg, and for rats it's 180 mg/kg. If it is comparable to humans(which it is), a person weighing 60 kg would have to ingest around 17 grams of pure psilocybin for an actual toxic reaction.

On average, each gram of P cubensis mushrooms(dried) have about 4-10 mg of active ingredients for every gram. So if we are assuming the mushrooms are pretty damn potent (10 mg/g) You'd have to eat around 1700 grams to get a toxic reaction from P cubensis. Or 1.7 kg

Now most cubes aren't super potent, so to be around average, it'd probably be double the actual mushroom weight.

Hell, technically mushrooms are safer than marijuana.(Well at least physically) The LD50 of marijuana is 42 mg/kg when smoked. But that also means you'd have to smoke around 15 grams of medical grade weed within 15 minutes to die from it. You'd more than likely pass out before than. Or smoke around 3.15 grams of pure THC, which would be nearly impossible to obtain. That is if you're 75 kg.(this isn't counting edibles which I couldn't find the LD50 on)

Either way, physically both of these substances are nearly impossible to actually get a toxic reaction to. Both are probably safer than many of the food additives we consume, and definitely safer than most things in your medicine cabinet.

Damn it took me like an hour to do all the math and research for this, thought it'd only take like 20 minutes :rofl:

What if you just made a super potent tincture and chugged that? Of course no one could eat 20-30 pounds.

Even if you made a tincture, there would be a point you would be tripping way too hard and stop(as alcohol would increase the absorption, plus immense amounts of psilocybin) Or you'd just become blackout drunk from the amount of alcohol.

In the end, even if you could get close to OD on psilocybin. There would be no way it'd be an accident. It'd have to be some sort of suicide. Also remember that's the LD50, you'd only have 50% chance to actually die from 17 pure grams of psilocybin.
