I liked this quote. happiness is a luxury so is contentedness, life by nature is suffering and one should feel blessed to experience it.

Ah, but could you honestly recite that quote to an Ethiopan orphan sweltering in the hot desert sun, covered with flies, slowly starving to death for no fault of your own?
Life is indeed suffering, but you'll have to pardon some for not grooving on the "feeling blessed" part.

Life is a blessing, regardless of one's circumstances.

Exactly how is being doomed to spend a short life starving to death a blessing? What words would you use to explain this to a child?

A child wouldn't understand, and I wouldn't presume to tell anyone that they should consider themselves lucky in that situation. Instead, I would have empathy as a fellow human being and do what I can to ease the suffering. Here is my point: Read the book of Job. That explains it for me. I almost forgot to add: Karma seems to explain things pretty well, also, given that situation.

Well, thanks, Jellric. However, I have to admit, I was hoping for a bit more of a debate. Quiet around here lately. I'm still going through withdrawals.

That is the reason those words came out of me I believe..granted I am not starving or burning, but my suffering was(is) great enough to very much want to end my life.
When I saw that bee( who I think I batted down or something ) injured, the wind not allowing him to fly..the grey sky...the old hallucinating wood grain...on he struggled. Does he think? probally not by our definition, I dont know..maybe just..feed,fuck,feed,fuck..requirements to go on..
Living doesnt mean being happy.
If you ask me that statement contradicts itself.

The way I see it is that life is full of problems and pain and all kinds of shit. Relations come and go, we get jobs and lose them, people can be assholes. People we love die.
So there are also wonderful things, and that's what we have to focus on, when we experience them, no matter how big or small. And don't focus on the bad shit, no matter how big or small.
Someone said on another thread something about how life is how we percieve it. I think we could see that bee as just eat, fuck, eat, fuck, or we can imagine the full life a bee must have of flying flower to flower, pollinating, and doing what ever that bee does. Just has a short life span is all.
Same with us...can see us as just eat, fuck, eat, fuck, but I think that there is more to us than that.
