I am a convicted felon. I need a job.
How did you get a job? How do you avoid or inform people of your past?
I'm tired of sitting around the house and being broke.

Move to a state where it is illegal to ask about criminal histories.

Get a construction job. I'm sure you know someone, or know someone who knows someone, that owns some type of construction related business. If they could use some cheap help, they'll hire you.

Best thing you could do is go to college . Apply for financial assistance .. Go to school ,smoke all day that's what I would do. Even though you have that past if you get a degree like in engineering. Or a fucking doctor lol I'm sure you could find a job. If not just he a drug dealer or sneak out of the country and become another person in Europe or something lol . I couldn't imagine having a felony follow me around. Hell 2 misdemeanors are bad enough

Even with a degree, background checks would show his felony, and hurt him. And those jobs probably look further back.
Not saying don't go to school, OP. Yeah they felony will still hurt, but a degree or certificate of some kind will make you more marketable.

This is what lazy liberal fuck tards do who want to be a strain to our society. I am shocked at how stupid people have gotten. You are telling this man, who hates sitting on his ass and wants to be productive , and you are telling him to do exactly that, be lazy... at some school and leech money from gov.
This thought process is rampant, and people wonder why our country is taking a nose dive fast. You got retards who make comments like this kitty person and im sure she is in the majority, which is scary. OP what do you like to do? Thought about your own Ebay/amazon type store just to get some cash coming in? I apologize for the dregs of society telling you to leech and be lazy.
Im embarrassed that persons train of thought exists.

He's not getting any financial assistance for school if he has a felony.
@ op - you need to learn a trade and start your own business. I was in the same boat as you at one time. There are many trades to choose from. Apply yourself and work hard, it can be done.

I landed myself a felony almost 10 years ago. Right after high school too and had turned 18
I can say pizza is a great route to go if you simply need a job and not really a career. Most non commercial pizza places do NOT background check. Unless its pizza hut, i can honestly say not one person is gonna inquire. Hell you could probably lie (but be aware of the consequences if they ever found out..... possibly being fired for fibbing on a resume)

I have a felony and received financial aid. As long as its not drug related, you qualify

Let me share some information with you....felon to felon, just so you know what you are up against.
If you ever apply for a job that finger prints you and runs a livescan which is basically an inquiry through the FBI. Not only are they gonna see your felony, but they are also going to see every single fucking charge that they TRIED to charge you with.
O yes, you read fucking right. Despite me having my felony reduced to a misdemeanor and dismissed off my record, its still there in black and white. And every single other charge they tried to hit me with.
But dont worry, in small ass print in the very corner of every charge it reads "No conviction"
Be aware of how badly uncle Sam fucked you in the ass. Hell just for fun go to your local police station and pay for a lifescan on yourself. Fortunately only certain employers can run them. Basically government jobs or jobs which have you working with children or elderly. But be aware. Despite me being able to own a Gun again, it still shows some pretty brutal shit they tried to charge me with.
How the fuck do you explain attempted murder of an officer "Dont worry sir, see that NOT CONVICTED print in the bottom corner"

However if you DO learn a trade in a state like California, you require a license for pretty much every trade.....and they will inquire about your criminal past and you will have to convince a board of folks that you are not a shit person

Its really sad man, on a dark and stormy night there has seriously been times where your mind takes you that route because of how fucking worried you are about your financial future. And they wonder why X cons are prone to still commit crimes. Having lived in Humboldt County though I can tell you there is no money in growing anymore. Believe it or not the pizza industry and the pot industry are heavily tied together All the growers and dealers I met pot wise are struggling. Legal weed really does hit the black market

Oh no kidding? I tried to get financial assistance for school and was denied, but my felonies are drug related. I was under the impression that any felony disqualified financial assistance. Hell, the counselor that I talked with acted like I wasn't even welcome on the campus property. Kudos to you man for getting into school.

Even graduated and technically my felony was on the border of violent. Resisting arrest with use of force, but they are gonna reject you just because of fucking drugs? What a fucking joke man. Sorry bro If it makes you feel better I wish I never went sometimes. I have so much debt, and my criminal past STILL is a barrier to getting employment
