Felons owning firearms?

I looked into it, got different information.

Old(dumb) friend of mine is now a felon for a non violent and non gun related crime- receiving of stolen goods.  The only reason that it was a felony is because he has another ongoing case of home invasion and theft.

this was the friend who snowballed down hill and well, began robbing houses to support his heroin habit.  Anyway, he's sobered up(for now) and wanted to know if he ruined his possibility of ever hunting with a gun again.

anyone know first hand?

Yes he fucked up any possiblity of himself ever being able to buy a gun himself but he can alwasy use someone else's the odds of him being caught are infintismaly small

Typically a repeat offender will repeat more offenses of the same type or grow to a new level. Is that the person you want owning an AR15?

Yup. I know more then a few felon's (All Drug related) and they can't own firearms, even though many due.

kid comes from a big hunting family and he's worried he'll never be able to go hunt now that's why I ask.

As for me wanting him near a gun, this is a drug website, there are people on the other side of the fence who think marijuana users shouldn't own a gun.  This argument is terrible, but I'm just saying.

that's not what he is a felon for.

He's only a felon because he plead guilty to receiving stolen property.  They charged him w/ a felony because he has an open case for home invasion and shit.

Basically for once the court system did its job, he deserves to be a felon if ya ask me, but the question is only:

Can he own a gun ever?

these are some of the things people should consider when considering any
criminal act, how's it going to affect me when I get caught, notice I
use when... because it's a possibility... of course everyone is too
smart for the cops so it'll never happen

home invasion to support his drug use... consider which is his crime,
had he simply been busted for drugs I'm sure few people would have an
issue with that... stop minimizing the real crime and believing that the
drugs were the real issue
