I think someone gave me fake weed??

I meet this guy earlier this year and we've been talking off and on.  I've been looking for a few different sources for cannabis, he ends up gifting me a small amount of herb to try out but the thing is, I don't recognize this as cannabis.  It kind of looks like it for sure but when you look close there aren't any trichromes that I am use to seeing, instead it's just these thin fine hairs that were part of whatever plant this is from.


I can't even make out any proper calyxes or hair, I tried vaping it and didn't get any vapor which even shwag will produce vapor and be recognizable as cannabis.  It's really soft and doesn't crumble even after being in the vaporizer, no noticeable smell and it looks similar to the stuff in the picture below.





He says he has several kinds, it just kind of weird, like I am almost certain this isn't cannabis. I got a little buzz I think from vaping, not much, which seems like its the chemical stuff that you have to combust in order to get an effect.


I don't know how to feel about this.

I think it looks most similar to damiana without the stems.

Simple solution. Demand buds if he wants to sell it.

I won't fuck with that fake shit anymore. I swear that shit nearly killed me. I was doing it pretty regularly and then one day I turned ghost white, started becoming completely incoherent, couldn't hold myself up, and was fighting as hard as I could to maintain consciousness and then everything went black. I've fainted and passed out from anxiety attacks before, wasn't anything like that. This was something I'd never experienced before.

I gave what I had left to a friend after that shit and never touched it again.

Who the fuck buys mull? If you buy pot you want buds atleast then you know if it's legit. Don't think I've seen any plant similar in flowers to pot, damiana is usually coated with synth noids for the legal pots u get from head shops

The depressing thing about this is I in good spirits gave him a single tab of legit LSD as a gift for giving me a sample of what I thought would be cannabis..
He told me in passing that he hasn't had any for awhile so I thought I'd do something most people wouldn't or couldn't be able to do.

He says he has some skunky buds coming in next week so will see, I guess at least now I know to be more cautious with any transaction.

No way he could say he actually thought it was pot, damiana has an effect but nowhere near on par with even mediocre pot.

I gifted the tab to him, he wasn't expecting it, I thought I was doing him a solid favor but I now question how much he knows about drugs  or if he really is just bullshitting me.  The L is legit un-perf from Canada too.. I was talking about how SSRI's and certain medications can inhibit the effects, he didn't seem to know that as he seemed a bit taken back by it;  Told him to do some reading online.

I don't know what this material he gave me is, damiana was only a guess. Growing up around cannabis, I know this isn't it. The taste alone with the acrid smoke, it's obvious its some spice herbal blend. The very thin tiny hairs with no trichome bulb heads was another dead give away. 

Either way, it just makes me feel crummy. Like, really?  I don't think I came off as a dumbass at anytime and we seemed to have gotten along really well.
I didn't eagerly talk about drugs with him, it was more casual conversation.

I am starting to feel like a dumbass though, I am pretty puzzled by the whole ordeal.  Apart from all of this he seemed like a decent dude whose been around for awhile and knew his stuff.. This very likely will be the last time I gift anyone anything of this nature, it was foolish on my part.  He has a prescription for xanax, hopefully if it's too much at anytime he'll be able to calm himself down.  The more I think about it all, the more stupid I realize I've been.

I wpuldnt not gift people shit anon 1, just do it for close friends who return the favour. Unfortunately a lot of people think they know there shit which isn't the case, these other types of weed is just likely other smoke able herbs like lions tail an passiflora. Who cares in the end of you didn't pay for it, you would of been more pissed paying for an OZ of that shit than finding out you got robbed.

I've been a push over of a bitch for a lot of my younger life, but I now know I deserve better and won't stand for being used, abused or taken advantage of.  Not only do I now question his motive but also his knowledge of drugs, besides from personal experience, I owe the majority of what I know about drugs and substances to the internet, places like this and erowid really do serve a positive purpose. Though I find it hard to believe being as old as he is that he didn't know this shit wasn't cannabis but some wild flower bullshit synthnoid concoction.

For the sake of my own security, I don't usually ever open up to others irl about drug use, even cannabis.


From now on I'll learn to be even more cautious, doesn't matter who I am dealing with or how 'with it' I think they are.

This guy seemed pretty chill, I am kind of painting him to be a jerk and he very well might be, I don't really know him.
If he does come through with anything else, I'll tell him before hand that I'll want to check it out before purchasing any, and even then it'll be a small amount.

I originally just wanted something to hold be over this month but if it's going to be like this I am going to use a more reliable source that will come through, but that takes some leg work and has some risk involved as well..

If I were you I would be pissed. I consider all the fake weed to be poison after my experience and reading around about other people's experiences. If someone tricked me into smoking that shit somehow I'd be irate.

I don't take shake though. I will only buy bud. If you buy in bud you'll almost never get ripped off. It's pretty hard to fake a realistic looking bud.

Jesus what this dude got isn't a synth noids blend, it is one of the herbs used in there manafacturing due to the fact when ground up it looks somewhat similar to some mulled pot. The herb itself if it is damiana was sold in high times magazine ages ago as a legal pot alternative, from what OP describes its just that plain Ol damiana leaf. If it was a noid he would probably of thought it was weed unless he got a crazily high dosed or potent noid, then he would of known it was a fuck around easier probably who knows

I was pretty positive is wasn't cannabis when I first inspected it. No calyxes, no trichomes and the leafs didn't look right, most of all its texture was soft and fluffy even when dried and wouldn't crumble, also no initial smell; though after burning, it had that acrid plant material smell and taste.  It did seem like it could possibly be knock off pot from some source, I don't know, though I wouldn't be too surprised if it was sprayed with something.  I can see how I might be coming across as dumb and green, but I assure you I am quite familiar with cannabis.


More than anything else, I am pissed that this person would give me this thinking I wouldn't know any better.  Given his age you think he would know better than to either pull something like that or think this is actually pot.  The whole thing leaves me disgusted and hurt.  I don't even have any friends really, just acquaintances, if you could even call them that.  I joined a club awhile ago to meet and be around new people, this is how I meet this guy.

I got another small 'sample' of some sticky skunk.. Same source, was free, was desperate to find out if he really could get real weed..

Stuff is red coated in some type of sugar, which sounds really bad for one's health, smoking sugar.  I tasted a small amount in my mouth because I was certain it was covered in some fruity stuff.  Has a fruity taste, spit it out and the herb looses its red color.  I don't know whats wrong with dude, I really do wonder if I came off as shithead or something.  This dude is nice and I enjoy talking to him about normal things but this is just way too out of the ordinary.  I would expect this type of stuff to happen in jr.high.  I actually hope he is fucking with me, I hope he doesn't think this is what weed is. 

This whole situation is just bizarre, I can't even find stories on the internet of people selling 'fake weed' as regular cannabis, but I somehow find that one fake connection in the world.  I am done playing games and will just forget about it from here on out.  I shouldn't even make this post, there is no point other than I am dumb.  I didn't buy any but still, why the fuck would someone do this ?
