I cut my big ones in half before drying.  MS, moving onto agar now for fun.  Some of mine were kinda weak and others would kick my ass on 2 grams.

Not to come off like a dick but have you considered that the problem is in your head?  i.e. dealer shrooms > home grown.

The 'dealer' shrooms were probably better because the dealer did the work.
My guess is dealers don't bother with MS for long and find a good set of genetics to then produce the rest of their bulk with.

As others have said, try eating them fresh.
When drying make sure they are cracker dry, they should sound like fresh leaves and powder if crushed.

A third idea is to powder a batch put it in a jar and shake it all up.
It wont fix the potency issue but it will homogenize the group and when you do discover how much weaker they are you can then compensate in amount.

How much do you trip? And how often do you trip off "dealer shrooms?

What do you consider a "weak trip"....not enough visuals no mind fuck?

U will know when u have them cause they have a dank smell, usually black lines runny down them, gnarly lookin stems, and 1/8 will make u see a weird-ass mantis Entity.

I think you should stop buying your prepared substrate online.  Do it the real way.  Go buy some manure or coir.  Don't take short cuts.

but I use sponsers. ive tried different vendors and sponsers and that didn't seem to change a thing.

I honestly just think that all homegrown shrooms are weak when using MS.

im doing an experiment right now, I have 2 trays that just finished colonizing. Today I would normally fruit them, but im going to wait it out 10-14 more das to hopefully strengthen the myc. maybe that will increase potency :shrug:

Heart of the god-dammed motherfucking gnarly-assed problem right there.:laugh2:

Think about it. MS is a CRAP SHOOT where you're rolling a million dice all at once.  The average overwhelms the exceptional.

Do agar.  Don't just think about it, commit to it.  Study up and get supplies, make a still air box, it's all pretty cheap when you consider the return.  Then you germinate, select from the strains, isolate the strongest.  You're already well ahead of the game, and this is where I usually go to full scale grow of an isolate.  But you can compare isolated strains for the best product as well, then you KNOW.  You take the crapshoot aspect away because you don't give the weak strains a chance to thrive and swamp the exceptional. :thumbup:
