Bulk substrate material - hard wood sawdust.

Not sure exactly how much weight is packed into that bag, but the dust is densely packed, and the bag is heavy.  Would say at least 20-30 pounds of freshly shaved hardwood sawdust is packed into this bag, conservatively.

Eat, I came across those carcase-x  pp5 containers today but wasn't sure if they were it because the center of the lid was clear and flat unlike that pic with the white coffe cup like thing in the middle.

Ham, what type of mushroom do you plan on growing with the sawdust? Is it one type of harwood or a mix?

Currently the plans are to grow, Reishi, Black & yellow morel, and inoculate a few sawdust substrates with some more Panellus Stipticus culture.  The type of hardwood is a mixed variety.

Carcace-x, I have not come across those sip and straw lids locally. I might have to order them from ebay or something. Thanks for the extra info, I really want to make a few of them.

Ham, I have 24 muda bottles of reishi with 8 of them fully colonized and 16 of them not too far behind, I'm very excited about them. Are you able to cultivate the morel mushrooms in doors? A co worker of mine said he was going back home to go morel hunting this weekend, I asked him if he found any if he could bring me back one or two to clone on agar. I wasn't sure whether I needed to try to grow them out doors or if it was possible to grow them in doors.

Not sure yet, sir.  The furthest step into the cultivation process that's ever been gotten to with this specie of fungus is four days out from pertri dish inoculation from LC from vendor.

Made a post in the journal this morning featuring the guides that are being followed relevant to the edible species of fungus currently being cultivated.  The Morel guide published by "The Farm" has developed a method for the successful cultivation of the Morel specie indoors that is relevant to your interest.  It's suggested that you give said guides a read.  Good luck!

thats the one i bought. with the clear lid. scroll down that post a little and you will find my build on there. i used guide holes to cut out the clear part then siliconed in the sip straw. i found those sip straws at walmart. but you can also order them on amazon.

i also think the ones i bought were 16 oz jars. the 8 oz jars are very small. they would probably work for liquid inoculant but not slurry unless you use a small amount.

Thanks, Eat. I have 4 walmarts within a 50 mile radius of my house and have yet find them. I guess amazon it is unless ebay is cheaper.

The newest addition to the bulk substrate preparation arsenal.

3 and a half cubic foot cement mixer.  :awesome:

just curious to how that mixer turned out for ya. does it cut down on breaking up the poo? be worth the cost if does.

Hey there, Nebojsa.  The mixer turned out great!  Use it every time horse manure is prepped for pasteurization.  The mixer doesn't cut down on breaking up the shit.  You'll need a wood chipper for instantaneous hands free manure shredding, or a weed eater, and a storage tote for not so instantaneous hands free manure shredding.  What the substrate mixer does is give the cultivator capacity to mix & hydrate the substrate materials hands free.
