Here's a look at the tools of the trade I have hunted and gathered over the last few weeks, but have been too busy with family business to begin researching with.

Plastic liquid inoculation gun (Thank You Lana! :heart: ) .


9 synthetic filter disks.


Liquid inoculation gun tubing holder.
 

Inch and a half long 12 gauge blunt dispensing needles.


1 four inch long 14 gauge injection needle.


20, 4 inch long 14 gauge blunt dispensing needles.
 

20 Whatman syringe filters.


Now I want to see yours!  What new tools of the trade have you most recently came into?  How are said tools going to enhance your mushroom cultivation regimen?  Where did you source them, ect??

Do you have any pics of the aforementioned devices?  Would be cool to see your flowhood.  I have a Mirak Thermolyne, 1500 rpm, 26 pound max capacity stirplate.



What kind of stirplate do you have, and what the heck is a bacterinerator??  I have never heard of that before.  Would definitely be interested in checking that out and knowing more about it.

I lost photoshop in a crash, so no pics today.  My hood is a FP Series I, the stirplate is a 1980's Thermolyne Cimarec.

The Bacticinerator is a heated ceramic chamber that sterilizes your scalpel blade in about 7 seconds.  I find it to be the second most useful tool in my lab.  You can get a used one on ebay for $100 or less.

I've been trying to find a commercial size strainer for drying large amounts of grain after a soak. Trouble was finding a large one with a fine enough screen to hold the grains. I found a few 10qt sizes but settled on two 8qt's that have a sturdy, fine design and perfectly fit a 5 gal. bucket. Now I'll never lose a grain and be able to collect my soak water for LC's or whatever.

So I still use an x-acto as my scalpel and needed new blades. Instead, I found these while rummaging through the first aid kit at work.

They fit in the handle. They come sterilized, they're thin so heating red hot is fast, and the little point has allowed me to scoop up the tiniest bump of spores to put onto agar. Best part is they were free.

Cool.  Looks like a few people out there are playing with stainless steel liquid inoculation guns.  :cool2:

The newest addition to the bulk substrate preparation arsenal.

24x24 flowhood (Thanks again Violet!). My oldest piece of equipment is my steam pasturizer, I've never done more than 2 or 3 monotubs at once, but I can probably do 5 or 6 at a time in it. Also have an AA 921 on the way :bananadance:. Can't think of anything else I may want really.

Youve seen it but my new impulse sealer is pretty awesome. I was pretty surprised that it works like a dreams.

Those innoculating guns, how do you work them?

The bactincinerator sounds pretty awesome too, I see those on lab desks its like that cylinder that holds the tools yea?



I want a new PC. Thats what I want for new toy. Probably AA 21 qt unless you can fit more bags in the AA 30qt PC easy

i got almost an identical cement mixer to mix soil a few years ago it was amazing and saved my back. Then hurricane sandy hit and that shit went under water.
it will work great for mixing substrate :thumbup:

Cool.  Two things that make life a breeze in this hobby are a PC and a flowhood.  If you can be fucked to snap a shot of your old steam pasteurizer, I would really like to see that.

Have a 2footx4footx6inch HEPA that was gifted to me some years back along with my AA941 by a man who has passed away.  :sad: 



Amp Draw, and spacial constrictions are the reasons I haven't turned that HEPA into a flowood yet.  The fan I have picked out to match the HEPA pulls 9 amps.  9 amps would throw the breaker on my current real estate's senescenced wiring and breaker system.

A few months back I finally made the jump from my 2 AAx25's & AA941, and ordered 2 AA 75x's.  The AAx75's have been used at least once a week on average since those devices were delivered to my door.  Been really nice working with current, up-to-date, brand new AA sterilizers again.

You would have to check the static pressure specs on your hepa but I bet either the 12" or 14" inline blower would be sufficient. http://www.hvacquick.com/products/residential/Fans/Inline-Fans/Fantech-FKD-Series-Inline-Centrifugal-Fans

I found the FKD 10 for half the price on Ebay. It was sold by hvacquick but had a small and almost unnoticeable ding on the rim. In fact I emailed them and asked them to send me a better pic of the cosmetic blemish, that's how minor the damage is.

That is a good sealer for ten bucks, mushpunx.  Happy for you, and yea, that electrical culturing tool sterilizer sounds pretty dank.  I would take one. 

Not entirely sure how those liquid inoculation guns work exactly.  Haven't had the time to do any field research with it yet.  I understand that your media vessel containing the liquid inoculant is supposed to remain un capped while procedures are performed.  That's why I got the media vessel to tube holding device, and that these guns automatically refill themselves after you squeeze the trigger.

The next tools on my wish list that I'm going to get is going to be a high-end Kelway substrate RH & PH tester device.

The fanciest thing I use is a scalpel or petri dishes. Other than that it's just tubs, jars and buckets.
