my salvia experiences
    #21059577 -

This post is intended as an overview of my experiences with salvia. Between April 2008 and May 2012 I did 8 sessions that I can distinctly recall. In all of these I smoked heroic doses. I haven't ruled out the possibility of doing it again but I don't feel a great desire to, and I fully admit that this is because it became so terrifying for me. The amount of fear I felt increased every time. My most recent salvia trips felt like all of reality was imploding around me, it threw my mind into a mode of an immediate struggle for survival in a dimension of consciousness completely alien to anything in the physical universe. This enabled me to progress to a total understanding that the world is bullshit by reducing the concerns of the social game to complete irrelevance. Now that I understand the world, I don't feel compelled to voyage to the salvia dimension as I was before. Mushrooms are the best source of information about the Other, so I'll definitely do them if I have the chance.

In August 2008 I smoked a bowl of 60x and tripped for about 2 hours. I was only in hyperspace for the normal duration of a salvia trip, but the aftereffects were very significant. I was never able to recreate this effect. I felt euphoric, this emotional state being the manifestation of ignorant bliss. The intense fear that characterized my later trips as I came to have more experience in the world wasn't present. I lay on the floor feeling too heavy to move and the recurring visual of an alien transmission through pulsating patterns of blue light similar to those used to illustrate sound transmission was definitive of this post-comedown trip. I was talking automatically, something that characterized all my trips into hyperspace as well, but while in later trips I was in a panic, in this one I was calmly relaying to my tape recorder (sadly I lost these tapes years ago) what I felt compelled to say by the transmission (the stream of thought in my mind that was manifested by the trip). The only detail I remember is that I said that it was time to contact a certain person, which is a subject outside the scope of this post.

My more recent trips were characterized by the idea that I had to say the right thing to escape from the vortex that I'd been sucked into. Everything I said was uncontrollable and at the beginning of the trips it was coherent, I would talk about the fact that I was smoking salvia, but as I was yanked out of reality the sentences I was forming became nonsense. My glossolalia continued until the end of the trips, when I would feel relieved to perceive physical reality again.

While I was in hyperspace the objects around me seemed to become flowing areas of information (words and numbers). My visual sense was greatly distorted. Nothing I did while tripping was under my control, the neurological process created by the salvia completely overrode my conscious mind. I was compelled to move to certain areas and arrange things around me in certain ways, like forming a pattern of squares with the mail on the floor. In a trip where my friend had filled the bong with salvia when I thought it was weed, I went downstairs in order to be alone. This wasn't a heroic dose (although I instantly recognized that I'd smoked salvia), the ones I did myself were 60x with a torch lighter and large hits except for a time in April 2007 when I tried to smoke it in a vaporizer, and in March 2008 when a friend had some 10x and I took a hit. I don't consider those to have been salvia trips, especially not the vaporizer, although with the 10x I felt mild threshold effects.

I can answer questions or go into more detail if anyone is interested.

Can you liken the glossalia to anything? After a salvia breakthrough I came to and found myself speaking what sounded like latin.
Salvia is all about exposing this reality as a horrible hoax. Its scary but coming to terms with knowing that reality and free will are an illusion can only be a good thing for sober life I would think. there would be no fear if you were truly convinced about it.

Physical reality is real, it's abstract ideas that salvia deconstructs, exposing reality as a purely physical phenomenon (not while high, but through reflection). My uncontrolled speech during salvia trips was much like being in a dream. When I was too far outside physical reality I was trying to talk to the Other (the presence that I perceived) in English but the words didn't come out right. As I came down, as exemplified by the trip I described (the one that I feel was the most meaningful) I spoke in coherent sentences but I didn't think about what I was saying at all, it was essentially involuntary and I felt that it was being dictated by the trip.

I've never been able to break through with Salvia. I start to sweat so much and get extreme anxiety but i can seem to achieve the state that alot of people do. Nice write up though, I enjoyed the read.
