Rob from the rich, give to the poor.
    #20996971 -

So we have this heroic outlaw, arguably more extroverted and flashy...

And then we have Jesus, another outlaw that is more introverted in his charitable actions.

Who do you prefer?

Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

Who do I prefer...

to recieve gifts from?

to hang out with?

to have living on my street?

to exist? (with the assumption that the other would then cease to exist?)

If you're saying rather than preferring one or the other as an archetype, you'd rather judge each as having advantages and disadvantages in any given life situation, I think that's a wise way of looking at things.

Yeah, the whole tendency toward bare preference has long stumped me.

How can anything be preferred except with respect to some utility of the thing, even if that is aesthetic pleasure, moral satisfaction, or some other subtle metric hidden in ourselves.

I want to have a beer with robin hood. I'll bet he has some cool stories. I'll be sure to wear some worn out clothes though -- he might even pick up the bill.

Prefer in which way?  I like Jesus but he was ineffective.  I like Robin Hood but so was he.  I like RH because he attacked the "bad" guy using the bad guy tools.

Jesus was trying to wake up folk that were for the most part perpetually  asleep.  He was very  brave however. Maybe more so than RH.

We are only Levitra buddies.

But me and Bill Oreilly are a different story. We sell books together and debate/destroy Richard Dawkins for fun.

Well, in part, it was a question of whether you took preference to the idea of a transcendental hero, somebody who has made an inner journey into the depths of inner space, established some sort lines of communication between the conscious and unconscious zones of the human psyche, becoming one where one was once split in two, and uses this heightened state of awareness to help liberate others....  That's the gist that I get from the Realized Being type myths.  I see the appeal to acidheads.  I see how the Ram Dass of the world take preference to this archetype.

Robin Hood is more of a trickster with a spirit for adventure, he defies the letter of the law and accepted conventions, he continually outsmarts and shames the bad guys, and walks away with a belly laugh.  The Merry Men remind me of the Merry Pranksters, Ken Kesey is something of a Robin Hood, confronting the banality and conformity of American society, rolling on into your small town in a psychedelic painted bus and throwing an acid test . :strokebeard:
