Any personal stories of Reincarnation?
    #4941635 - 11/16/05 01:05 PM (18 years, 2 months ago)

I was just wondering if anyone out there has some personal stories pointing to reincarnation as a possible explanation. I'm thinking of something along the lines of other people knowing you from another life, I'll give you an example:

I once knew a fellow (a co-worker) who claimed to have known me from another life. He stated that we both were 'employed' as slaves rowing a Roman ship and were chained next to each other, the ship sank and we drowned. A couple of years later, I met a girl. The night after we met she had a dream (a reoccurring dream throughout her life), in the dream two people she was close to drown on a sinking ship with her. She had always recognized one of these men as her brother (though he looked different) but she could never figure out why the men were wearing skirts. This time when she had the dream, she then realized that the other one was me. Years later when I told her about my co-worker's story, she finally realized why we were wearing skirts.

I have not had any experiences with that much detail, or independent confirmation.  I have met a few people who shared my experience of having met each other before, but we experienced it more as an immediate sense of ease and familiarity.

I think of it as kindred spirits recognizing one another.

Well last week I had a near death experience.

I'm not sure how it happened, but I was sick with fever and on a modest dose of DXM...... I spent forever trying to fall asleep while feeling miserable and the next thing I know I came to in the hallway of my grandparents house to find it glowing and sparkling like I had never quite seen before.....

now this hallway is just ripe with symbolic significance, which is something I had never fully contemplated before.... but at any rate, they have this whole wall full of family pictures going back quite a bit......

so I start to look at the pictures, mainly one of me and one of my brother. I look at the picture of me and my third eye region looks clouded and hazed over, whereas my brothers looks more "defined" ....

At about this time I started getting a decent level of lucidity to know that something is definitely up here, that this is an odd experience to be having.... and I decide to try to find my grandfather.

Well, the room in the hallway which I sometimes sleep at when over there is completely dark and a stark contrast to the rest of the house... and I hear my grandfather's voice coming from inside it, but I am hit with a feeling that I know it is not him, it is something rather sinister.

I go in all the same with the intention to confront this recurring theme [ a week prior i had encountered "the devil" in a dream and he used the same "trick" of calling out for help as if he were someone i knew..... but i knew better than that but went in anyway ], and I see an odd looking "being" or "person" in the room who was a little scary, and I drag him out into the hallway so as to transform him into something that I can understand.

Well he's this oldish looking guy, bald, kind of a stern catholic look to him and even wearing black as if a priest [i have NO connection to catholicism in this life, none whatsoever]... but he wasn't a priest at all. What he said was "You really have to forgive me...." and I started pressing him for details.

He told me that when I was young he took me to see a doctor other than my usual doctor... now.... there was a huge sense of revelation about as I was talking to him.... and it felt like I was treading in really delicate waters..... this had a very powerful sense of deja vu to it but I couldn't really for the life of me figure out exactly what he was talking about..... I was afraid to actually press for the complete story....

so..... he goes outside and gets in this car, in this very kind of ... significant way..... and as its leaving I stare him down and ask him if he did something bad to me.... realizing that I shouldn't be so angry and hateful, and he just looks right at me mirroring my "thoughts" and says "You really shouldn't be so hateful...... and no." and then he drives off.

SO.... now I'm kind of tripped out..... and I start running down the street to see what is beyond here and I pick up tremendous speed and the environment warps to this scene of the back of a schoolbus in an alley which seems very very familiar somehow, but I don't understand what it means..... and I am completely and totally struck with a sense of connection to death. This is death. This is the bardo.... this is what happens before you rebirth..... but what am I doing here... what should I do? I called out to this monk that I have spoken to about meditation and a figure of a girl appeared, but it was not her.... if it was her then it was her in another incarnation, or simply her spirit....... I'm not sure what I did but I left the scene rather than talk to her, as she just seemed to be an observing presence....and....

Well.... thoughts were much more connected to "dream" content than usual [if you've seen Mulholland drive at the beginning with the pillow scene this is exactly how the next scene formed] and I came to think of myself as a child and I saw this sheet in front of me.... I was then lying on it in a bed .... but the memories in my head were not what I was experiencing, though I tried to emulate them as I had just recently recovered them in waking life..... of a time when I must have been no older than 4.

I felt unfullfilled with the content that I had and decided to wake up.... so I was back in my body completely paralyzed and there was this WIDE vibration that I'd never felt before... the body was as if completely closed off from me, and "I" was shaking left/right rhythmically with the vibrations completely to the left/center/right of the body.... I could not wake up.... so I immersed myself in this blackness...... rather than continue dreaming while thinking "this isn't right.... you want to be immersed in light..." and then I gradually came back to my body.

I got up and felt completely charged with energy from the vibrational experience I had.... my vision was markedly clearer than usual, and I had some lingering dotted hallucinations that lasted until I went back to sleep.

The similarity between the symbolism in this experience and Mulholland Dr were also running rampant in my head.... and I was pretty scared and thought to myself that David Lynch KNOWS something......

so yeah. All I can say is I felt a strong familiarity to death during that experience.

....I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow, to feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human......

I have no doubts as far as reincarnation is concerned. My grandmother was once my uncles brother, they were capable of sharing the same past memories.
However I have no definate recollection of my own past lives, just bits and pieces.

I hope she clears that up as well. Her uncles brother would also be her uncle so why say uncles brother instead of just uncle. Maybe she meant uncles son?

And of course people are wondering about the time frame considering the uncle and grandmother are alive at the same time.

It could be so if  the grandmother  died before her uncle was born.

That aside, I have met to many people to list who I have shared past life memories together with. It usually starts with you meeting people you have an INSTANT familiar relationship with. You start getting flash memories of another place and time knowing them and if they have been too and you start talking about it, it's weird how the same stuff starts coming up and out about it.

Not weird in a bad way. It's actually a very comforting feeling. When you start realizing, that you journey with many others in and out of shared incarnated life experiences, it takes away feelings of finality to relationships in this life. You can meet up again and again.

Sort of like how some say to others when there is not enough time or chance to share something together in this life time with them that they will do it together in another life time. It's comforting to know or feel that it can be so. In my experience, it definitely can be so.

If you have to part ways with someone and feel sad about it, consider that, you can meet again in another lifetime and it's just a temporary parting of ways. It makes you instantly feel better.

In the same token, there are some you are happy to part ways with in this life. Whenever doing that, try to do it in peace first or make peace with it. It's my understanding we tend to choose to incarnate again with those people to come to peace with them in a next life. Might as well get it worked out now.

Love and forgive everyone now in this life and you can spend future incarnations in more joy instead of cleaning up old unresolved messes made.

Thats the only sort of karma I know of. The universe justifies itself and what ever messes we make, we tie ourselves to them until they are cleaned up. You can see it as a form of the soul maturing through having to become accountable for actions and take responsibility for them sooner or later before they can move on to bigger and better things.

Some who have had NDE say that when they go through a life review, its not from their own memory of experience, but from the eyes of ALL they came into contact with. They see themselves through everyone else who knew them.

And its that experience that usually has souls wanting to make up for things. It is a free will choice to do it or not. It's my understanding that at some point, maybe eons up the road, everyone choices to reconcile themselves.

However, I don;t understand karma to be something like, You raped in this life, and so you have to get raped in another. It can be reconciled through becoming a rape crisis councilor in a next life, or maybe having someone close to you experience rape and you help them to heal the trauma and see what its like for one you care so much about to go through.

In other words, it can reconciled through community service and not an eye for an eye type justification of the scales.

BTW, It's my understanding that the Bible use to have many references to reincarnation in it and the church took most of them out because they couldn't use eternal damnation in hell threats on people if the knew about or believed in reincarnation.

Oops sorry this is long. I love the topic an could ramble for ever on it.

:peace:

If in a past life, her grandmother was a man, and in a past life her uncle was that man's brother, then it would be correct to say that her grandmother was once her uncle's brother.

Example: in 1872 Bert and Ernie are brothers. They both die, and are reborn at different times in the future. Perhaps the bond between them results in them being born as relatives again.

I just have idle speculation, nothing concrete obviously since it would be impossible to get the real scoop on this.

The first thing, is that I am reliving this "lifeline" over again. I've already lived a life in this body, and am reliving it now. In fact, the most defining trip of my life told me this. I also think that in my "past" life, I killed myself. Do you know that I feel absolutely envious when I hear of people who have killed themselves. I feel almost rabid jealously. WTF right...yeah me too. But I've been this way my entire life...and it's like I've come close to suicide a few times, but because I feel I have a "responsiblity" here, I settle for self-multilation. So I've wondered why this is. Another thing is that I desire suicide daily. Now, keep in mind, I'm not depressed. It's just when things don't go perfect I want to die. Psychedelics have aided me in getting past this greatly, but I can't stop myself from fantasizing about it when things go wrong. So I wonder why this is too...and have come to the conclusion that I have this attraction towards suicide because I did it in a "past" life.

So it's like I have that hanging over my head in "this" lifetime, the same lifetime as before, only I'm fulfilling the purpose I failed to do in the other lifetime. The entire goal is to do that one thing.

These are just theories...

So I might sound a little grandiose for writing all that but my husband and I talked about this same thing just yesterday.

Yes, actually, I was Jim Morrison until my girlfriend Pam left a small baggy of pure heroin laying out on the table and I mistakenly snorted it thinking it was cocaine. She proceeded to throw my lifeless body in the bathtub, and I was immediately reincarnated as it stars saddam.

I have the best dreams about people in my life I have said goodbye to.  It's great.  Like a visitor's pass. :inlove:  I feel like I've really been with them.

I also had a regression done once with this hypnotherapist and when I went under, I was in a shack or a cabin and I was dying in childbirth.  It was very real to me, and I remeber all of these details of a place I've never been.  I've never had kids either but I swear I know what it feels like now.  I don't really know what to make of it with my rational mind, but on another level I know it was real.  It felt real.  :2cents:

Elley

it is your cell memory retaining that suicide, and it does make sense that you would be forced to relive that life, the things you were to do and learn were not accomplished and so you will do and learn them in this life. As far as the suicide cell memory goes, remind your self that was a past life, that is not this life, like a daily affirmation. Just let it go. Let me know how it goes. I can send you books to help you.

i have a story that could indicate reincarnation, but its not "mine"

it is my brothers... or my mothers

anyways, my older brother devon, when he was a young child (four or five or so) used to go on in great detail to my mom, and with an absolute force of conviction, about "when he was a man"

he said that "when he was a man" he lived and worked on "grey hill farm"

he would talk about his family there, and the pond by the barn, and the lake with the catfish in it... he used to cry because he wanted to go back there.

hed demand to my mom "take me to gray hill farm!" but she had to explain that she didnt know where it was.

one day he told her he would show her the way. so they got in the car and started driving. but of course this 5 year old kid didnt know how to direct her to grey hill farm. he was sad about it for a long time.

he still has memories of it.

my brother is a very cynical guy about stuff like that too.

Ellemysh, your post made me think of something. It may not be that you desire suicide, but rather what suicide will bring you. You probably have a strong subconscious desire to "cross over" because you know that existence on the other side is a lot easier than this one. This feeling is more common than you might think. It could be that life has worn you down so much that you feel you need a timeout from it all. I'm not talking a "go to sleep and in the morning you'll feel better" timeout. I'm talking about the longer, more comforting timeouts we get between incarnations. Since you've taken the option of suicide in another life, this time around you feel more certain that it's an easy way out when you need it.

I just had to say one more thing about your post. It's odd how you mentioned that other people commiting suicide makes you jealous. When i was a teenager one of my closest friends died in a car accident. The first emotion i felt after i heard the news, before the sadness and grief, was envy. This surprised and shocked me and i never understood why i felt that way until years later, when i realized that i'd rather not be "here" right now. But i chose to live this life so i may as well stick with it and do what i came here to do, right?
