I have not found them growing directly from cow poo but I have found them growing from a bit of straw that was covered in wood chips twice, in two different areas!

It's where odot uses straw to cover up mud so it doesn't erode, and then they cover it with wood chips.  Pans everywhere.

Nice, I remember seeing that find.

These were from this year.  I only assumed they laid down straw, I actually don't know if they did.  I just know that's one of the procedures the road workers do.

Sorry for the derailment, let's get back to cow poop cinctulus.  :stoned:

As promised... Wouldn't let me upload as many pics as I thought. Had 22 of them lol.
I find that the #1 habitat for pan cincts is rotting hay, mix that with cow manure and you've got pan paradise.. Find those areas where the farmer drops straw and hay in the winter. The cattle will eat and shit there and will never be able to eat all the hay, leaving a grassy shitty hay(ey) paradise

Told ya so haha!
Even before I knew what a cinctulus was I seen some growing from an old cow patty where I used to go fishing at this stream that cut through a cow pasture. That is when it all started for me. I bought a field guide the next day and I was on and gone after that.
It seems they prefer horse dung better, but I guess cow manure will suffice when there is no horse dung around.
I guess they are considered a weed fungus for a reason because they can pop up just about anywhere.

@ midnight
Nice cow-poo cinct pics!:awesomenod:
I'm wondering how joust never new about this occurence.
Probably cause it's all about the potent shrooms in wood chips and grass over there in the PNW.
Ounce in awhile a noob over there in the PNW will search where there is dung and most people will say "you won't find any thing good in dung around here". If they grow in lawns, hay bails and fertilized wood chips over there, I'm sure they can be found in the cow pastures growing from dung at the same time.
Did you find enough of those cow-poo cincts?
I wonder how they would compare(potency wise) to the H-poo cincts?
Do any ever blue at the base?

Yeah, they love horse shit the best around here without a doubt.
They seem to cluster up nice on the dung heaps if they are spread out good and get tall and fat. Wish I took some pics, one that I found all alone had a cap the size of a beer coaster with a 6in. bluing stem.
I know....pics or it didn't happen.

I do not have a pic to contribute. Sorry

I believe you, sometimes they have a super flush and are everywhere.
My 2nd year hunting those suckers I had to sneak into a pasture at night and they where growing from almost all the dung piles I came across.
I have never seen them grow like that again since then.
