I mean GPS was an American space program first that actually makes a real-life difference to people, there you go. The moon was just for the bragging rights. After the initial proof of concept, there hasn't really been a reason for America or anyone else to go there because it's a huge effort for no real payoff.

Nah, I just think nationalism/patriotism is pretty lame. Yeah these feats of engineering are impressive, but just living in a place where they happened doesn't mean that they are your achievements.

metric is also used in a great deal of manufacturing.

I use both, I have to convert from fractional to decimal and to metric in my
head because our machines use metric and fractional but my tape measure is
in inches

my hammer is also SAE as opposed to metric

I find imperial easier to use for construction.  Metric has too small of increments to read quickly.

really I though construction would actually be smart enough to use metric. Considering its so easy to use and so accurate. EVERY construction site I know of has used Milimetres. Id rather have something accuarate to a millimetre than accuarate to 1/315351513513513535 of an inch.
