I use both quite happily... actually, I switch between the two... Temperatures I usually use imperial as there is more resolution per unit measure, short distances I tend to use metric, long distances I tend to use imperial, weights I am about 50/50 tending towards metric, pressures imperial (for the most part), velocity imperial, and anything else metric.

The metric system is a tool of the devil
-------------------- "And we, inhabitants of the great coral of the Cosmos, believe the atom (which still we cannot see) to be full matter, whereas, it too, like everything else, is but an embroidery of voids in the Void, and we give the name of being, dense and even eternal, to that dance of inconsistencies, that infinite extension that is identified with absolute Nothingness and that spins from its own non-being the illusion of everything."

it's the same logic that imperial system might have, but I don't see it.

I hate it when people don't use the metric system. I think in miles for long distances, but for everything else distance wise I think in metric. I don't really use it for volume or weight though.
I hate it when I say something is x cm and everyones like ok wtf how many inches is that.

I can use either comfortably. But I lived in Australia for two years so that helped. Most Americans I know who haven't spent time out of the country have trouble with that goofy, foreign, logic-based system of weights and measures.

Inches, feet, miles, ounces, pounds, pints, quarts, gallons, fahrenheit.. all that weirdo stuff has become second nature since I became a shroomerite.
But its fucked up though. You guys should do the same with the Metric system.
Microgram, milligram, gram, kilogram - hops of one thousand each. Micrometer, millimeter, meter, kilometer - are we learning yet :P
If a measured pendulum swings one meter, its one second.
0'C freezing point & 100'C = boiling point of water at sea level.
The Metric System was thought up by scientists to do away with the mess of silly measures. It makes more sense than measuring distance with someone's foot.

Never being taught the metric system in school I have yet to learn how they aquired the standars for it.
Temperature is easy (boiling point of water) but who decided how long a meter was and how much a gram weighed? And what is the standard for them? There must be some measurable standards since it was developed by scientists. I'm sure I could google it easy enough but I figured I would test the knowledge of those who were raised with it.

A 90 degree swing of a pendulum with a length of one meter is one second.
A kilogram is a liter of water.

Then I guess you have to buy your drugs in ounces instead of grams
I've adapted to the point of using non-metric measures that even weird Americans out, such as measuring Opium in Apothecary Grains lik they did in deQuincey's time.

a meter is the distance a ray of light travels in a vacuum in 3.34 nanoseconds.
the kilogram, the unit for mass, is currently defined os the mass of the international prototype. this is not the best way to define a unit so they're working on ways to define the kg in terms of universal constants.
then there are the seconds, candelas, amperes, kelvin and moles. but right now i don't remember the exact definitions for them. google is your friend.
