I'm gonna tell you something I did a few days ago. One of my charities is this tiny African home for orphans and street children thats super grassroots being sponsored from my country, which is a small speck on the map. Super super small potatoes charity.
A few people here are their benefactors. How few? They sent me a christmas card signed by all kids. I got a handwritten letter by one of the kids to thank me for my breadcrumbs of donations. It's THAT small a charity, that they can do that.
A few days ago I went and bought all of the kids a pair of flipflops. Some were worn down, others had none, now they have a "Yay!" moment in their life where they all go get something new gifted to them by someonme they never even knew. They're super grateful about it. That stunt cost less than 60 dollars US, so I topped it off to 150 which extra bonus they can spend as need arises.
Every single day 42 kids somewhere in Africa will have something on their feet to keep them from stepping into something sharp or unhygienic. And they know a complete stranger gave it to them. Less than 60 bucks paid for that. I committed myself to providing them flops from now on, added to my monthly donation and random gifts.
No doubt there's good karma coming my way for that Thats not why I do it, I do it for THEM and because it feels damn good to be able to bring some sunshine in the lives of 42 children that the world had forgot about.
So thats something I did a few days ago.
I'm not saying Do That, but I do recommend, find the GOOD WORKS that fit you to a T, that are really YOU, and do them while you still can.
Doesnt have to be a charity. Doesnt have to cost you money.
Do it for the Other, do it for YOU, the good feeling it gives you to do some good before the final curtain falls.
Doing good is its own reward. You dont need gratitude or karma bonuses, the Good you do is the reward itself.
