Found these near a cluster of mushrooms (need ID PLease)
    #2017547 - 10/17/03 11:42 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

I was walking the dog and found these by a road to our castle entrance in South Wales (UK)

They were on there own, i picked them and walked abit further and there were 2 massive clusters of the same mushrooms!

The stem is a light brown-white colour, about 2cm diameter and 7cm in length, the cap is going up as you will see in the picture! The spore being a light brown colour, fading into a more creamy white.. The top of the cap is flat, slightly hairy with a dark brown colour to it!

Sorry about the quality of the pics.. Currently waiting for spore print on them!

Were they growing in clusters where many mushrooms were joined at the base of the stem? If so, were they growing from wood (it might have been buried)?

I'm thinking Honey Mushrooms (Armillaria) on this one, but, as concrete said, we should wait for a spore print before saying they are.

Happy mushrooming!

Hmmm, I found some shrooms before, check my previous ID thread, totally different shrooms and someone said they were honey mushrooms! i think they were growing on some wood yes from a tree that had been cut down, there was loadz joined together at the base of the stem, The size of the cluster was about the size of a football, doubled, so twice the size of a standard football

dazzy: these do not look like the A. mella i am used to finding either but there are many species in this genus and they are usualy collectively refered to as honeys.
they are verry common this time of year [as are they during the spring] so it is still a possibility. TM is not often verry wrong .

It was an unclear sporeprint but from what i could see it was a creamy white colour, maybe white not too sure!

If the spore print came out whitish, then those look like Honey Mushrooms to me.

If it wasn't obvious that they were growing from wood, then you should verify that by digging a little at the location where they were coming up and see if there's some wood underground there. Honeys often are growing from tree roots, so they can appear to be growing from the ground. If you're considering eating them, be certain you verify they were growing from wood before you eat them.

Happy mushrooming!
